Hi,
I shutdown my XPS 400 remotely and when I got home to turn it on nothing happened. No fans turned on, no lights (excluding the MOBO)turned on. I cleaned the fan and checked the I/O, but no luck.
The computer is 3 years old and I never had a problem with it before now. Are there any known issues? I am going to borrow a friends power supply. Is there anything else I may need to check. Thanks
NEILBD,
Did you have any luck with this yet? I looked around and couldn't find a similar issue. Here are a couple of things that I thought of though plus a couple of other questions.
1) Does anything happen when you push and hold the power button, rather than just pressing it, for about 20-30 seconds?
2) Have you tried restarting the system using the computer that was used to remotely shutdown the one that's not restarting and did you close the program that you used on the host system?
3) Did you use the Windows Remote Desktop Connection or a third party program to do the shutdown?
4) What operating systems are on the two computers that you used?
I wouldn't think that the power supply would be the issue unless something else happened, like a power surge, that affected the non-starting computer because it was working before you shut it down. You could try plugging it into a different power source though (i.e. a different outlet).
