I am going off to Grad school and I would like to purchase a mini laptop. I will mostly be using it to type documents onto microsoft word, powerpoint, etc. and going online to surf the web and check emails.
I would prefer a laptop that is between 2-3lbs, closer to the 2lb range. I plan on carrying this laptop often this is why I need it to be light. I don't understand any of the computer jargon so it is difficult for me to understand the type of memory that would be helpful for my needs. I am not a gamer but I also don't want my laptop to be running mega slow.
All suggestions are appreciated. My Price range is between 2-4 hundred. I was torn between Acer, Asus and mini HPs...can someone help me?
Thank you!
However I would plan on a mouse and shop for the 10 inch screen.
Example at http://www.amazon.com/Acer-Aspire-AOD150-1165-10-1-Inch-Netbook/dp/B001QFZFS0
I own the slightly smaller unit and it's quite good.

We have a laptop…on the kitchen table, would love a built in desk with file drawer, as we are in 5th wheel more than planned…computer is a necessary item to have space for every day!
Another thing to consider when choosing the computer that you want to travel with, is that desktop computers are not made to be moved and jostled. Cards and boards tend to shake loose. Laptops are better constructed for being mobile.
