Negative image

by mastiff2010 - 3/23/09 6:20 AM

I purchased a Samsung LCD TV - LN40A550 - in January 2009.

It works fine and has a nice picture. But, sometimes the image turns to a "color negative film". The problem - which has no time to happen - disappears when pressing the power button.

Any idea of what's going wrong?

mastiff2010,

Welcome to the forum, and thanks for the photo. These definitely help in assisting.

Follow up question: Does it happen on all sources, or just the input for the television? (Check your connection cables to make sure they are secure).

Does the menu look normal and the picture remain distorted when this occurs?

If the menu is distorted along with the picture, then it's probably an internal malfunction, which can be fixed. If the menu is normal, then it's likely either a connection with the cable/sat box, or the cable/sat box itself, and not the television.

This is what a distorted menu would like like, and this would indicate that the board may be the cause of the issue:

Hi, thanks for replying!

I don't remember if the menu looks normal when the problem occurs.
But I'll be watching.

I'm quite sure the cables are secure. Please, would you tell me what is a DMD board?

Reagrds!!!

DMD is related to rear-projection television.

DMD

No worries. There are about 100 acronyms that bounce around my head in a day. :D

DMD = Digital Micromirror Device - the DLP Chip.

(In case you wondered)

Cable box

Thank you.

Just to let you know that I had my cable box changed.
After reading carefully your post, I have reasons to believe it was responsible for the 'negative image'.

I hope it works!

Regards.
