The real kick ass episode will be 10,000.
I was thinking that maybe we could have a stream of Molly Rants with the obligatory "It's a Molly Rant" ender. But, just have the emphasized points, like "geez, come on", "and another thing", "what were they thinking" and any other catch phrases that keeps the idea flowing. Finish off with the "It's a Molly Rant" and we have a fun segment. Could be very interesting if we could get them in order to see how her catch phrases evolve.
I like the overall layout of the 10K show- loving the "origin story" and getting all those who have contributed to making BOL so great over the years. However, I agree with n74jw's post: no listener call-ins. Or if they are included make them really brief- like they give a quick anecdote or quip about BOL.
It'll be good whatever y'all do.
Love the show.
I love the plan of action. I have a question if you will be able to take international calls.
But, I don't know if they usually call listener co-hosts on Skype, or if they just call them on the phone.
Would be good to hear how it all started like episode 100 of gadgettes, would be good to do a video of the episode as well for a special episode so people can see what the old hosts look like.
I definitely like this idea, and while it will be chaotic, it should be a blast! I do hop the entire description will make it into ep 1000, not just the 'normal' part of the episode.
Could you incorporate Spectical Fest with the 1000th episode?
Sounds awesome Tom. Congratulations, that's a big accomplishment.
BOL just celebrated its 4 year anniversary, no? I started listening July 2005 and I think you started in March of that year, if I'm not mistaken. Great job.
It wouldn't be a 1000th episode without Veronica Belmont!
And according to Tom, Veronica's already in.
I really don't think you need to discuss any other news of the day. It can wait one day unless its a massive story. Its a big milestone I don't think anybody would begrudge you guys if you solely used it as an opportunity to talk about the show. I'm really interested to hear the origins of the show and how management felt about it in the early days. That section could easily be 10mins depending on the quality of the chat.
I like it...seems like you got this on track.
Any chance of fitting the word "palooza" in it somehow? ![]()
Also, how about a short mention of some of the most influential BOL listeners over the years, eg, Remy, Trip, Bob the Patent Layer, Frank the Patent Layer, Shalin, PB30, Jason (was once a listener!), etc...
I think it would be great if you put a clip or maybe even the entire first show - I remember you guys saying it was only 5 minutes.
Ok thought of this when first was posted. Did not pay isp bill and fast connection was cut(put on hold actually). Well sign up one month free dial up so go figure.Probally will not able to see the show but am always excited about bol and the chat room. Here's my ideas.
For 1000 show, three segments first one snippet of one of the early shows. Opinions of people who appeared or ran the show then. Second half way snippet of a show that aired or was recorded. Same as first but with the people who produced or participated at the time. The third could be a few topics of the day. One like "Today BOL celebrates its 1000 thousand episode."
Of course anything you play I would probably listen because the crew does a fair job on covering the subjects and making it at least half way entertaining. But since you asked here's my two cents.
Something I liked to see is the opening up the show seeing employees arriving at the studio on in-line skates or something like that. Just going threw the door. Maybe half way though the show Brian tong attempting to do a somersault on in-line skates with him purposely falling and Brian Cooley there to help him up.
Balloons , party favors like those things that you blow though and a paper tube rolls out, confetti, maybe music and dancing.
