can anybody help me with this?
i have the same issue with some XP users of logging in and being logged off. i have also tried using F8 function and in safe mode with command prompt but the i dont get the C prompt at all then the screen goes to windows start up neither the administrator does not log me in.
thank you.
ps. i've just installed kaspersky internet security and while in scanning process if shuts off automatically and now i cannot log in anymore.
I am having the same problem, although I have not tried to use the safe mode yet.
I am wondering if it would be better to hook up another hard drive to the computer, load Windows XP on it, and then transfer the files you want to save?
I would think you would have to access the safe mode somehow to do that but I do not know for sure.
There is a older post titled "Windows XP: Cannot get past the login screen" at URL: <http://forums.cnet.com/5208-6142_102-0.html?messageID=2951898&tag=forums06;search-results#2951898>.
The guy who had this problem was a laptop user. I am using a desktop, I do not know if it makes a difference.
They refer to a Microsoft document At URL: <http://support.microsoft.com/kb/811151>. Which gives some detail.
This all started when I blocked a "Windows NT" file of some kind when my TrendMicro antivirus asked me if I wanted to do so. Like a dummy I clicked on "block." Then it asked me for my Windows password. I just clicked on "enter' and Windows locked up.
