Apart from actual telephone functionality, is there any reason why i would buy an iPhone rather than an iPod Touch?
Many of the most useful nongame applications are location aware. They only work on the touch when your connected to wifi.
They have the same features except the iPhone has a phone, text messaging, GPS, and a camera.
The iPod touch has a bigger hard drive (32 GB vs. 16GB) and the battery lasts longer (36 hrs tops vs. 24 hrs tops -- IF you were only to be listening to music on each of them and doing nothing else). Also, the iPod touch is thinner and lighter.
What's nice about the iPhone is not having to carry around an extra device in your pocket and just having your phone and iPod all in one. Also, having the 3G internet where ever you are is nice. But it costs so dang much every month to have that luxury, and to me, it's just not worth the cost.
Personally, I'm waiting a few months and hoping there will be an iPod touch upgrade. Last year in August (right when college started back up) Apple had a big sale where if you bought a Mac computer you could get an iPod for free. I'm hoping they'll do the same this year, and by then the iPod touch might be up to 64 GB, which is the perfect capacity for me.
