Hey David,
I really enjoy your work; thanks for keeping me up to date on the happenings of the HDTV world. A quick question for you:
I have a Samsung HL-T6187SAX and while following your calibration settings post I noticed that "Just Scan" in the Size menu and "Film Mode" in the Setup menu are both "greyed out" and cannot be altered. Any idea how I can get around this and alter these settings?
Many thanks,
Mike
Typically those settings are grayed out on certain resolutions. I'd guess Just Size would appear as an option if you feed the set 1080i or 1080p, while other resolutions might disable it. Likewise, with prog-scan sources film mode is often disabled.
Hope this helps.
Thanks for your quick response. Maybe you can answer this other question I have that I haven't had much luck finding info on. Does the HL-T6187S support 24p playback mode? I ask because I am considering picking up a Vudu box but hear that the HDX will only play back at 1080/24p (if your set only supports 60 the HDX revets to 1080i apparently)? Do you happen to know?
Thanks again!
Mike
Btw just figured it out why Just Scan is greyed out. Even though I was viewing 1080i channels on my DVR I have it feeding into an Onkyo 605 which downconverts 1080i over component to 720p. Just thought I'd share!
