I have a Kodak EasyShare CX7300 (3.2 MegaPixel) digital camera.
It takes okay pictures, but the Video mode is not clear, no sound, NO zoom(!), 30-second duration time. The video quality is bad.
What is the best digital camera that takes good pictures, but has Excellent video recording that isn't too expensive??
Is the best photography based on: low noise in high ISO, sharpness of lens in the camera, frames per second, quality of flash, resistance to flair, focal range, etc?
There is no best camera, but there are best options for certain types of photography and expectations. Also, "isn't too expensive" is relative. I've sold people cameras that thought that $150 was an expensive camera.
I'm not a professional photographer and I have no clue when it comes to electronics. I'm looking for a digital camera that takes really good crisp/clear video. I don't even know what megapixel is best...7, 8, 10?? I've read the more megapixel the better, or less is better(?) Very confused!! I think 150.00 for a great cam is very reasonable. 200.00+ is way too much. I'm just looking for a good one with really good video intake.
Thanks!
At $150 you'll just be happy with a camera that takes decent photos. Your budget is going to give you some problems. The only decent camera I know in that range is the Canon A590, but it's not the greatest for video. It's like you want a great new car in comfort, mpg, and performance but only willing to pay $12,000 for it.
You might think that $150 for a great camera is reasonable, but your belief and reality are in sync. For a great camera you have to look at the Panasonic LX3 or Canon G10(these aren't bought by pros as a main camera). If you really want to get a good camera that has both very good video and photos, then you'll need to look at the Canon SX1.
Oh, if you only look at photos on a computer or never print above 8x10 then there's no need to worry about not enough megapixels(a 4MP can print a beautiful 8x10 that is indiscernible from a 15MP).
It should say "your belief and reality are NOT in sync"
Don't worry about this too much, just get the best you can and deal with the limitations. I've had a lot of people expect $150 would get them a great camera, even though they know nothing about electronics(like you said). I don't know where they got this notion, but most realize that there are limitations to those cameras. They all either accept it, gripe about it, or spend more money on a camera that will give them what they want.
Thank you for your advice! The SX1 would be a dream, but not for $600+.
The G10 is really nice but it's pricey as well. I read that it's about 14 megapixels and it ranges from $350-500. I guess you get what you pay for.
For my price range, I was told that the Canon PowerShot SD1100 IS (10 MP)is the best for what I'm looking for and it ranges from 150-$170.
(according to best buy employee)
So, I guess it's either the Canon A590 or the SD1100??
U can also look for canon SD 850 IS I have this one and its great, its takes great pictures and video quality is perfect!
I will be looking at this product.
Thanks nadiusha23!
A lot of point-and-shoot cameras do have ability to zoom in video mode due to the noise the lens assembly makes while zooming, because that noise would be picked up by the micophones.
I'm not really concerned about the zoom of the camera. Just looking for the best product for the money. As long as it takes clear good video I'm happy:)
