How to get digital videos onto HDTV?

by vifirebird - 3/9/09 2:47 PM

I want to get digital videos that I have (AVI) onto my HDTV. My TV can hook up to a computer, but it's cumbersome to do such because of where they are in my house.
I read about the AppleTV, but I don't know if it lets me use my own videos or just iTunes.
I also read about the Sandisk TakeTV. However, it is now discontinued.
Is there any other hardware out there that can allow me to play video files on my TV.
I don't want to have to buy a ton of blank DVDs.

Argosy and Western Digital start around about $100; or Mediagate for about $300. There may also be some others.

Read the spec. for what you need. The .AVI extension is just broad to know exactly what you need.
