AOL Optimazed Systemax PC Factory settings

by macron74 - 2/10/09 5:44 PM

Hi everyone

I have a AOL Optimized Systemax PC and i would like to do a Factory settings restore. I have the cd that came with it called: AOL 9.0 Optimized Recovery CD for Systemax PC but there is no Options to reinstall the OS just the desktop software, some Latin software and other items but no OS.

Does anyone knows how to reinstall Windows? I called tech support but they want to charge me 39.98 for 30 of call because the PC is of the 12 month guaranty.

Help...anyone?

There should be a program to make a backup of the system.
What you want to do is find a restore point that precedes the installment of any aol software on the hard drive.

System restore

Thanks for your reply. I did try the system restore but was unable to complete. So my last option i think is to format the drive to Factory settings but i am unable to find the OS from the recovery cd.

If there's no OS on this CD ...

(but we can't see it, so we have to trust you) it's quite simple: you need another CD for Windows. And possibly a CD with drivers also, unless you can grab those from the Systemax site or other sites.

If possible, contact Systemax. If that's not possible, you'll need to buy an OS CD with license (or find the one you lost). Sorry, but I'm afraid that's the way it is.

AOL Optimized Systemax Pc Factory Settings

Hello,

Here is information that may be of help:

To request Windows OS:

http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/dsn/en/document?c=us&dl=false&l=en&s=gen&docid=3A1C590C9132AB20E040A68F5B28350B&doclang=en&cs=

Restore Computer to the Default Factory Configuration (Vista):

http://support.dell.com/support/topics/global.aspx/support/dsn/en/document?docid=28C0548D825EB65DE040A68F5B2865A8&c=us&l=en&s=dhs

You did not mention whether you own a Dell PC nor what version of Windows you require. If your OS is Windows XP, you can search for XP's installation instructions on the same site.

If your PC was purchased from Dell call and request the backup cds. If not, call them anyway and see what they say.

Try AOL

by Nissj - 3/1/09 8:14 PM In reply to: AOL Optimized Systemax Pc Factory Settings by macron74

Hello Macron74,

My apologies.

I know on-line tech support can be very expensive. I hope I am not out of order doing this, but perhaps someone at the AOL Helping Hand forum may be of help. Here is the link:

http://messageboards.aol.com/aol/en_us/articles.php?boardId=544550&func=3&channel=Computers+%26+Electronics

If you have an AOL account, you can use it to sign-in. However, a good suggestion would be to choose a different screen name if you are asked to choose one; and not one associated with your email. Spammers.

I hope this information is of help this time.

Systemax System & Factory Restore Information

by Nissj - 3/1/09 8:44 PM In reply to: Try AOL by Nissj

Hello again,

I came across information on the Systemax website which may or may not be of help. Here is their link:

Perhaps if you have either of these 2 disk you will be able to perform a factory restore.
