Downloading trial Office 2007 glitch

I obtained the download manager from Microsoft for a trial of Office 2007 Professional. It ran extremely slowly (44k/sec) and was interfering with my email program. (Outlook Express) I ended up terminating the program with WinPatrol's Kill Task function as it refused to cooperate and shut down.

After rebooting, because I still couldn't get my email to work after terminating the program, the download manager complained that the checksum did not match and I should disable something associated with "DMZ". It seemed to run quickly but did not function as designed.

It wouldn't install so I got it to shut down, deleted the manager from my computer, got another copy (with a second key and I'd never inputted the first one) and used CCleaner to dump everything from my temp folder. Unfortunately, the download manager now simply bounces between "pause" and "resume" without ever downloading anything.

Obviously, I need to locate and delete whatever was downloaded by the first attempt before I can start a second one. I emailed Microsoft's help line through the corporate download site, but their response was singularly unhelpful.

Where does the download manager stash data, what does it call it, and do I need to do anything special (like uncheck archive) to delete it?
