Bought this machine new for the kids...Not much on it but vista...It is the slowest machine I have ever used...I have rr high speed and yet a page takes minutes to load..Every app you get the blue circle going around for a long time before anything will start...
160G hard drive
512 mb ddr2
Pen 4 processor
How can I make this machine work better...I am at the point that I want to throw it out the window...
I bought my son a Toshiba lap top this x-mas..It runs vista with no problem..Faster than my compaq which I still use XP..
Vista's minimum req's are 1 gig of ram. Try upgrading/ increasing your ram. There's other things you can do to increase the performance too, but the RAM upgrade is a must.
I thought that might be the case...Do you know if these machines have a spot for additional momory?
Thanks-
Dave
According to the specs, this model max's out at 2GB(2x1gb sticks) of RAM. So I would install the 2GB to make the system run a lot smoother & faster.
Windows Vista is memory hungry, 1 GB is BARE BONES, 2GB runs it well but 512? That is like running Windows XP ON 256 mb, bound to be slow.
