Needed expert handling to copy from dual layer to single layer. I can not offer help on this due to forum policy. Do not ask me to tell you how.

But you might be able to use dvdshrink to copy from that DVD to a dual-layer media with a dual-layer DVD recorder.

Sorry, them's the rules.

I have done it with it with intervideo's dvdcopy and dvdshrink (just as an experiment, lol). Of course the protection maybe different than what you have though.

I managed to do it using alcohol 120% you can do a search and find step by step tutorials. Bottom line is you need to now what the type of protection is used. I just capture then burn. You can ruin a completely good day trying to do this and still come up empty handed.

I don't think decrepytor and dvdshrink works on double layer (8.7GB).

No need to use DVD shrink...

Nero Ultra 6.6 does the same thing, or, if you don't need DVDshrink's compression abilities just use any DVD burning app that supports double-layer burning and point it at the VIDEO_TS file on your harddrive.

try downloading "Apollo DVD Copy" they give you 7 free burns, I've used it 4 times- never had a problem using it. The worst thing that will happen is Apollo DVD Copy won't be able to burn it either-- but its free and you can try it 7 times to see if its worth paying for. Good luck

DVD Smith is freeware

by Angel_zcy - 2/16/09 1:13 AM In reply to: Copying a copyrighted dvd by picturebydesign

DVD Smith is freeware and is great if you just copy DVD to your hard drive. For DVD to DVD copying, I recommended Movie DVD Copy. It is a pretty good DVD Copy program that rip protected DVDs. I've been using it all the time and never miss backing up a DVD. These two software can be found at Movie DVD Copy websitehttp://forums.cnet.com/5208-6644_102-0.html?forumID=40&threadID=109306&messageID=1244057
