MT2S to DWZ

by sachin_216 - 12/27/08 6:33 AM

Hello,

I bought a CANON HG-10 camcorder. Now, I am trying to convert videos downloaded from camcorder to my PC (Laptop VAIO 1.5 gz, 2 GB RAM, 160 GB HD) that have extension MT2S into a full length movie, copy it to a DVD, using corel conversion software (I do not have much of an idea - went by my understanding per the manual, could be wrong).

Firstly, it took like 3-4 hrs for the conversion, which I am unsure of why.
Secondly, after the DVD is done, is ejected. As I put it back and try playing it, not sure again why, real-player was used and perhaps I do not have the latest version of real-player, it failed and was in 'processing mode' forever. I forcefully stopped and ejected.

Now again, I tried to run it with default program/software by the name ulead (I assume that this is part of corel software), and this time again it takes forever and does not play.

Then, I decided to save the file used to copy into DVD in my VAIO Laptop which has Vista as OS, and run it from there. Now it plays only one of the selected videos, but with horrible and unacceptable audio quality. Video and audio are NEVER sync.

As this is a second way I tried to copy into DVD and failed, first being windows media player - I am really frustrated. Any help/guidance would be greatly appreciated. Even relevant links(I could not find anything specific to my problem) would do.

Thanks again.
Sachin

You need software which will render (convert) the mt2s file

into a form which can be played from a DVD. Sony Vegas can do this. I am not familiar with the capabilities of the software you mention. However, a 1.5ghz computer is probably a bit slow when attempting to work with high definition video. 3ghz, or more, would be much better.

MT2S files are compressed, and very demanding for a computer to play. Playing them from a DVD is even more difficult. That is why you are seeing such poor playback.

That was quick! Thank you.

However, I fail to understand even why it is unable make a DVD even using Windows Media Player. I tried doing the same with another laptop(DELL, 1 gz, 1 GB RAM, XP) and it worked like a charm. I wonder if there is any problem with my laptop or my OS which is Vista.

I would buy Sony VEGAS software for converting MT2S files to DVD. But, looking at my laptop's (I would think so) performance I am apprehensive for the inability to make a DVD.

Not sure to call Sony VAIO (for the laptop) or CANON (for camcorder) to request them to address this issue.

Thanks,
Sachin.

mt2s format

I am sure you can not use Vegas to do this directly. I have Vegas and it will not accept a mt2s file. I too have a HG20 thus I have already experienced this aggravation. I have several software packs that would work but not yet have I found anything that is not time consuming as well as tricky. Thus the hunt continues for the fix to this ongoing problem. I am pissed at Canon for not including in its package what is needed to complete this task. I am also pissed that they don’t even mention the problem to start with. Man when will we see some sort of compatibility between these dam companies. It has gotten completely out of hand. Do they really think it is good for business to **** us off. How about maybe two three video / audio formats and that’s it end of story. HD Medium grade and U Tube crap that would do it for me. Still looking and still pissed!

I am glad that you are sure.

It does however help to be correct as well as sure.

Mt2s is another word for AVCHD. As the linked article points out, Sony Vegas, currently 8.0 Pro, is one of the video editors that can handle this format. In fact, Vegas was one of the first which could do so.

Let me share a tool I use

DVD FLICK might be useful once you have your video in a format DVD FLICK can use. I can't offer a tutorial on using DVD FLICK or the list of formats it accepts but on the DVD FLICK web page the tutrorials and formats are there for the taking.

It's also free.
