The D55 is not shown on any Mustek website that I could find.
I did find the D50 on the Europe website.

My guess: The D55 is a special version of the D50 which is sold to the Home Shopping Network (HSN).
Probably, just a different color.

The D50 is advertised as a 5 megapixel camera, but it is only 3 megapixels.
This makes me think the D50/55 is a Chinese camera similar to many that are showing up on eBay.
The lack of any optical zoom is typical of all of these cameras. They are not made by any major camera company and we have found that support for this type camera is just about nil.

I would suggest that you try to get your money back.
If you want a good digital camera with no optical zoom, I would try the Olympus D425 which sells for about $135.

Not a very good camera

The image quality is really poor. A photo taken from a distance of five feet with flash and adequate indoor lighting came out very grainy and dark with a reddish cast. This was on the "fine" (high quality) setting. I would not recommend this camera to anyone. I have an old 3 MP Sony that takes much better pictures. In fact, I think my cell phone's pictures are about the same quality of this, and my cell phone doesn't even have 1 MP.
