Agree with Drop Natali Campaign

by gradyq - 2/12/09 10:22 PM In reply to: Trying To Save Our Show by drhjr

Nothing personal against Natali, but the show has become terminally boring since she became co-host . Nothing is going to change that. not more time, not more half-a-chances. We need a host is up to the job from day one.
That's my opinion. Kwahhn has a different opinion but he is starting to sound like a paid public relations person. I'm not saying he actually is, just that his post are indistinguishable from what a snide PR person would say.
I encourage those who would like to see Natali replaced to continue to let their voices be heard.

Silence does not = support

by milkky - 2/13/09 5:25 AM In reply to: Agree with Drop Natali Campaign by gradyq

There's a small number of people, cross-posting and creating new threads which say the same thing, making unsupported allegations which are mostly extremely subjective, and then saying, "Look, there's a whole bunch of posts saying there's a problem so there must be a problem". The fact that a number of people (I suspect they are the actual "large majority" that was referenced earlier) simply do not bother to reply to the irrational flaming because they prefer not to roll in the mud even to argue against an unjust attack. For this group to take the silence as proof that they support their tiny but squeaky minority is sad.

The fact that Kwahhn is quixotic-enough to try to talk rationally to people who are apparently deeply enjoying their own irrationality is something that he might want to look at, but it is all to his credit that he is taking the time to speak up.

I found it very interesting that your last sentence was not a call for a real debate, but just for those who support your position to speak up.

All I'm saying is be polite when criticizing.

by kwahhn - 2/13/09 8:53 AM In reply to: Agree with Drop Natali Campaign by gradyq

There's a better way to vent your frustrations with the change rather than calling Natali an "annoying babbling head" or "she makes my ears bleed" (just to name a few). Those are the types of posts I'm against.

It's unfortunate that some of you do not approve of the change but you are entitled to you opinions but please convey those opinions in a respectful manner.

CNET, I'm awaiting my check. kthnxbai.

You have got to be kidding me.

by Vance14 - 2/13/09 8:10 AM In reply to: Trying To Save Our Show by drhjr

Saving the show? Listen, I have been here longer than just about any of you, have been a listener since the beginning. The show, in my veteran opinion, is as good as always, if not better.

If you don't happen to like Natali's style, that is fine, but don't project your personal feeling out to the rest of the BOL fans, as if there is some significant trend.

Natali is smart, funny and does, indeed, have an edge to her. I think folks get so easily fooled by the good looks and softer voice into thinking that she, herself, is soft.

Tom and Molly.
Tom, Molly and Veronica.
Tom, Molly and Jason.
Tom, Molly, Jason and guest.
Tom, Natali, Jason and guest (including Molly).

It is not as if the show has never changed, and it is not as if the show has been weakened by these changes.

New Drinking Game

by PressToLight - 2/13/09 6:17 AM In reply to: Cnet, please consider moving Natali back to once a week. by no4natali2nd

Take a drink when...

1) ...Natali has to reference ad nauseam, that she had already covered this story on Loaded.
2) ...Natali has to "one-up" a topic/point/etc such as, Molly notifying the masses of a charity event... but wait... no unique glow can befall Molly because Natali too has a charity related event.

I Like it!

by drhjr - 2/13/09 1:36 PM In reply to: New Drinking Game by PressToLight

Yeah, that charity 1-up thing was just childish on Nats part. It totally stole Tom and Mollys thunder for what they were doing.

Plus Nat couldn't resist talking about twitter. She was starting to have withdrawals.

The Main Issue

by keithdok - 2/13/09 6:28 AM In reply to: Cnet, please consider moving Natali back to once a week. by no4natali2nd

The main issue is that 99% of us really miss Molly. We wouldn't care about Natali or anybody else one way or another if it didn't feel like X Non-Molly Person was being substituted for her, and poorly at that. Molly just has a great "radio voice" and the wonderful sense of humor that made BoL fun to listen to. I'm sure a huge portion of BoL's inside-jokes originated with Molly. I realized months ago, long before they reduced/eliminated her role on the show, that the show was really only great when she was on. I remember even wishing at some point last year that they would create a separate feed for the shows when Molly was away/sick. Because they weren't as good.

Natali's just getting hate because she's not Molly. If Molly was still there, no one would complain about Natali.

Since I can't edit myself

by keithdok - 2/13/09 6:43 AM In reply to: The Main Issue by keithdok

Replying to myself because I can't edit my original post, but just wanted to say that like a few people I've seen, I'm a longtime listener who registered just today for the first time specifically to see if other people were missing Molly and to voice my opinion on that too. I think the main difference between Molly and all the other new people is that the former seemed really excited to be on BoL and to have put some thought into the show in between episodes, whereas the new people seem to convey an attitude of "welp this is just another thing I do during the day".

We miss Molly, and we missed Veronica before that

by Natronx - 2/21/09 1:52 AM In reply to: The Main Issue by keithdok

I feel like the quality of the average poster on the BOL forum has gone down considerably lately. Maybe it's just that I miss intelligent observations.

I'm not even sure why the Natali haters even bother me, since I know that these crybabies are only acting out because they miss Molly.

I don't believe in being rude about people

by minimalist - 2/13/09 6:44 AM In reply to: Cnet, please consider moving Natali back to once a week. by no4natali2nd

who are just doing their best but I have to agree that Natali, while good on her own show, is just not the right fit for THIS particular show, with THESE particular co hosts. Its nothing personal but she is not right for this particular job. Its all about how the hosts work together to play off each other.

Natali is obviously a very accomplished and articulate journalist. You can see it in her composure and the way she presents herself on her CBS spots. And I appreciate the fact that she's attempting to play a more dominant role now but this has made her tone go from from overly polite to scolding (and almost irritable). And scolding, when done without a sense of humor is just no fun to listen to. My guess is its just not in her nature to act this way and she's going a bit over the top trying to fill the hole Molly left.

This is not really about Molly. I know she's not coming back. Its about the part she played on the show. She was the alpha off of which Tom and Jason played. BOL is the best show CNET has going for it but honestly the chemistry between the hosts is just not there anymore and I would think the producers and the hosts would want to know.

Enough already

by FusedArtist - 2/20/09 4:52 PM In reply to: You know what I haven't had in a while? by Balls_Maximus

Okay, seriously? These anti-Natali threads are past stupid. Get over it, she's the official host along with Tom, if you don't like it, don't listen.

The people reposting these threads are children: grow up, already. Not only do they upset the community, but I guarantee you they upset the BOL crew. Molly said as much on the show: knock it off already.
