Cnet, please consider moving Natali back to once a week.

by no4natali2nd - 2/12/09 10:11 AM

I feel that the quality of the show has dropped significantly. Not only does she seem to not bring relevant insight or stories to this podcast, Natali's condescending tones over stories, jokes or references that she does not seem to understand bring down the mood of the show when Tom, Jason or Guest are riffing.

I really love BOL’s geeky humor, insightful commentary, relevant stories and intelligent banter, but lately it is becoming painful to listen to the podcast.

Perhaps her skill set/style are better suited for 'Loaded' or the '404'.

@ Kwahhn- This is my first user name

I was trying to add to the sentiment that I do not feel that Natali is a good fit for this show. The user name choice should have probably been 'I2ndthat_No4Natali', but the viewpoint of the post remains the same.

Well actually,

there are a lot of us who do not feel that way.

Disagree

I didn't think I would like Natali taking over Molly's position. Because Molly was the one who was mostly on the ball with all her opinions and tech insight. But I have to say that she has filled her shoes rather well.

Natali, from what i've seen/heard, actually has the most insightful opinions much of the time. I really couldn't ask for more, I think we lucked out in getting such a good replacement when Molly moved on.

I understand now

So I caught up to where people were at with this thread, and while I still don't completely agree, I can at least see where they're coming from.

Natali does often have a negative undertone to much of what she's saying, but I wonder how much of that is just the New Yorker coming out. Same with the fact that she always has to one-up things other people say; which could just be a deep rooted effect of trying to fit in to the show and gain peer approval.

Still though.. Honestly, I think it's just nice to imagine how cute she is when she's speaking, rare to find a tech enthusiast like her.

Natali is just less confident that Needleman

by rgmarkey - 2/12/09 11:35 AM In reply to: Cnet, please consider moving Natali back to once a week. by no4natali2nd

If you listen closely to Needleman and Natali, I think you'll find that he talks way more, and he is wrong or mistaken or misunderstands what's going on just about the same percent of the time.

So, while Natali may not be as experienced or wise as Molly, at least she doesn't dominate every show she's on. Needleman, on the other hand, won't shut up and is even more clueless.

Amazing what a dash of assertive self-confidence (no, I didn't say arrogance) can do for you. Maybe Natali would benefit from faking it with (over)confidence, like Rafe does.

But..

Yeah but you don't listen to Rafe for the information/opinions, you primarily listen to him for his comic-appeal and wild rants.

Still though.. Tong is the comic master.

Ugh, Molly

Sorry, I never could stand Molly. She was why I stopped listening for a year. A rant is only meaningful if you have your basic facts right. Too often, she didn't.

Trying To Save Our Show

by drhjr - 2/12/09 1:35 PM In reply to: Cnet, please consider moving Natali back to once a week. by no4natali2nd

Listen people,

I know that we are starting to feel like "If everyone keeps complaining, they'll cancel our favorite show". But posting fake messages trying to say that Natali is somehow doing great and that the group is now better than ever is a little sad.

I can't believe that our community has come to this. They won't cancel the show, it's one to the top podcasts on the web. We need to stop fearing that they are all of a sudden going to stop producing it.

We need to just have a uniform voice on the matter. An overwhelming majority of people have noticed the declining quality of the show since Nat became a full co-host.

Voicing the truth and informing Tom that the show isn't working any longer is the very least we can do to save the show. If we don't let them know that it needs to change, then the show will die all on its own.

People are leaving the podcast, they have checked this show off and we need to nip this in the bud before it's too late!

If you care about this show, you need to ask them to please replace Natali with someone better suited for the job.

Thank You.

An overwhelming majority?

Where are you getting your numbers from?

Post 12 of 43

maybe she's learning

by kalel33 - 2/12/09 3:30 PM In reply to: An overwhelming majority? by kwahhn

In the show, for yesterday, she did a much better job interacting with other when she had the person from the 404 in the booth with her. She still isn't able to talk about tech very well. She seemed happier to talk about dancing than the tech stories.

Like I said, she could be good on a podcast, but I don't think she has the passion and knowledge of tech to be on Cnet. She'll be an on TV personality on CNN or MSNBC later, but I bet she doesn't stay in tech, because that doesn't seem to be a love of hers.

What I didn't like...

by drhjr - 2/12/09 6:18 PM In reply to: maybe she's learning by kalel33

...she was using the fact that she couldn't fix her computer to avoid and interrupt almost every story.

*sigh*

She was being hacked

Most likely that 404 gut set up remote desktop as a prank.
Nobody could ignore that.

Wish They'd Stop the Constant Pimping of the 404

by PressAnyKey - 2/13/09 5:43 AM In reply to: She was being hacked by Nicholas Buenk

Seriously, the 404 is an ok pocast and being in sales I understand the benefit of cross-selling but can we tone down the 404 references just a smidge?
