Malware problem: Vimax Advertisements

by FrankQC - 2/4/09 7:48 PM

I have a trojan on my computer... It's replacing every website ads and changing them to Vimax male enhancement.

I have booted into safe mode and did a McAfee system-wide scan and said that it deleted it. Yet when I log back in as normal (non-safeboot) the trojan is back on its feet.

I have tried malwarebyte's and hasn't given me any success. Anyone have any ideas on how to remove this very annoying adware/malware?

You might want to consider purchasing Vimax. It can save a marriage gone bad.

Malware Problem

On the serious side, you cannot delete a file with your anti-virus software in safe mode. The offending file will simply pop back.

1. I'm 18 so I don't need Vimax
2. I ran my scans in safemode and it deleted them. But yea, it still pops back. I'm starting to think that the malware attached itself to the registries.

This thing is just boggling my mind! I totally wiped clean and reformatted my hard drive and did a fresh reininstall of XP only to have the very same Vimax ads, google redirects, not being able to access my C: drive and not being able to update any of my virus/spyware programs etc. How is this even possible? lol

I tried McAfee.. didn't work. Malware Bytes, didn't work.
A few others ... Nothing happened.

I downloaded this... http://remove-malware.com/anti-malware-reviews/combofix-latest-version/

It's ComboFix and for some reason it worked. I hope it's going to work for you as well.

p.s. no I'm not advertising.
