Hi,
About two weeks ago I submitted an application called Antaeus (Data Visualization) to download.com, and found the upload.com site to be fraught with errors and random problems that make it difficult, if not impossible, to use.
After creating my first product (I only wanted one), I realized there was a mistake, and so I tried to modify it. The modify link just reloads the product listing page and that's all does. So I created a new listing with the correct information since I couldn't modify or remove the old listing.
Once I had this product "pending" I talked with my friend who I am helping with the development of Antaeus, and we decided to try the Premium Listing package. After many errors and back-tracks and pages not found we managed to create a new listing for Antaeus submitted under the Premium Listing package, with the "estimated approval" date set to December 31st--the following day.
Five days later I get a notice saying it has been approved, and I'm provided with a link to view my product's listing--except it doesn't go to Antaeus. It goes to someone else's listing entirely:
http://www.download.com/3000-2077_4-10906703.html?tag=contentMain;contentBody
Meanwhile, our product is not listed on download.com or on any of the CNET partner sites.
When I attempted originally to use the Premium Support link, I submitted a support request for this problem and got a "page not found" for my repeated troubles. I've tried submitting the support request more recently and I'm just thrown back to my products listing.
The "status" for my "accepted" product is reported as: LIVE_PENDING_INGESTION
No mention is made of "LIVE_PENDING_INGESTION" anywhere in CNET's FAQs or other documentation.
I've made multiple requests for assistance via the normal support channels--but I have yet to hear back regarding any of them, going back ten days now.
Meanwhile, my $90+ has been taken for my "Premium Listing" package which is supposed to have my product processed and my support needs addressed within one day--either of which has yet to happen now going back ten days.
The only place left I have to come for help is here. I don't know whether to ask for my money back and forget ever attempting to register anything here again or to pray to the HOLY AND OBSCURE GODS of CNET for swift release from this limbo hell I've been cashed into.
Either way my experience here has been an exponentially frustrating nightmare from which there seems to be no escape, and no assistance for.
Any help, thoughts, or sympathy appreciated.
When I click on the link I am taken to http://www.download.com/Antaeus/3000-2077_4-10906703.html?tag=forums06;posts&cdlPid=10995862, which is a listing for Antaeus 2.1, developed by "Janina Ratkowska Group," which I presume is (now) accurate. However, I have forwarded the report along so that it may be addressed by Cnet customer support.
Regards,
John
About a day after I posted this the listing was "fixed" and my product information updated in my Products tab. My next problem to be addressed--one day if I'm lucky--is the fact that I can't "Modify" my listing. Every attempt to do so (yes, using the correct method) creates a "New" listing instead of modifying the existing one.
I'm really unable to grasp anywhere in the depths of my being what possessed these folks to go live with a site that obviously was never tested out even once. Someone dropped the ball.
Hopefully someone will be able to help you shortly. Please let me know if your issue doesn't get resolved. Thanks!
Best regards,
-Lee
I've been in contact with a support person named Irina (great name). She's dealt with my expressed irritation famously and we've been getting the various bugs I've discovered brought to light and passed on to the folks who should have tested the site in the first place before going live.
We've been trying to get our premium listed product showing in upload.com for three months - without success - and payed $99 a month for the "service".
Hopefully someone will see this and get in touch with you. It helps to have the attention of one of the customer care managers.
Cheerfulness,
----EAT
Your customer support form reqyuires attention.
When I am logged in and try to send a message, I enter my message & Captcha, then click submit. Instead of submitting - it attempts to download an html file to my pc.
ff 3.07, windows xp.
btw: your customer service is putrid. I have been paying $9.95 for your basic listing and the autogenerated link posted at download.com does not work.
