Partitioning Dell Inspiron e1505

by logans06 - 2/1/09 6:50 PM

I tried to partion my Dell Inspiron e1505 with Windows XP using EASEUS Partition Manager. When I load EASEUS it shows that I have 5 partitions already! As follows, FAT16, NTFS "C drive" NTFS "D:Backup", FAT32, and an Unallocated section.

The C drive is the only drive that has enough room for me to partition it for windows 7 beta. But when i resize the c drive EASEUS doesn't allow me to create this new unallocated drive. Can anyone help me with this? Thanks

It wont allow me to delete any of the other partitions. I need the dual boot functionality so I can keep xp on my laptop as I still use it everyday!

have to run it dual boot. Then you don't have to worry about the possibility of trashing your XP and temporarily losing use of the PC.

Hello logan06, If you are having trouble with your drive partitioning, and do not want to continue with that process, you could try installing the Windows 7 Beta on a “Virtual Machine”. Here is a handy Guide to help you set up the Windows7 Beta on a VirtualBox: http://www.makeuseof.com/tag/installing-windows-7-on-a-virtual-machine/ . If you want to know how to clean up your other partitions let me know I can help out with that as well.

Well that sounded great, but after trying to create memory for the new virtual machine it appears my laptop doesn't have enough. If I cleaned up some of the useless partitions would that increase the available amount of memory? If so I would appreciate any information on how to do so. Thanks.
