VCAST music with Rhapsody

by dfm2005 - 2/1/09 6:22 PM

I signed up for it yesterday. I authorized the computer when I went to authorize the phone (env2) I got the message "your computer needs DRM components to authorize this device". It says to restart to install these components and restart rhapsody. When I restart the program it goes through the install once I start it again and try it. It gives me the same message.

Digital Rights Management (DRM)

Hi dfm2005,

It sounds like your computer does not have a media player with current Digital Rights Management (DRM) drivers. For example, if you're using an old version of Microsoft's Windows Media Player, then the solution may be to download and install the latest version (I think that would be version 11). It should be free from Microsoft's website.

By the way, you can copy music to your phone directly as long as it is not copy protected (DRM would not be required). And you would not need to install the V Cast or Rhapsody software. What you'll need is a microSD card for memory, a USB cable (probably came with your phone) and a USB driver for your phone (it should be on the V Cast / Rhapsody disc).

Simply install your phone's USB driver on your computer BEFORE you connect your phone. Make sure your phone is configured to store music on your microSD card. Then connect your phone to your computer. You'll be able to access the microSD card on your phone just like it was a jump drive and you can copy mp3 files directly to it. Verizon usually has a "my-music" folder (or similar) where the files should go.

If your music is copy protected, then you can simply use the Windows Media Player to sync music files to it.

Best regards, WiredNot

media player

I am using windows 7 which is loaded with windows media player 12. So that's not the issue. I need to use vcast with rhapsody because I am using the subscription service. I fixed the problem by plugging my phone into a different installing the software it worked. But when I plugged into the original computer and tried to transfer I go the same message this time I restarted and it worked.
