I Need a Little Advice

by fearlessfrau - 1/29/09 11:30 AM

I have a Dell Inspiron E1705 with a measly 40GB HD. Ideally, I'd like to use an external storage device for much of the stuff that's on the 40GB. My question: what drive(s) are recommended, and I'm thinking I'll need a different type to cable from laptop to ex drive?

Thank you in advance!

Options are USB, Firewire & eSata

External drives have 3 types of connection which you can use to connect to your machine. Seagate & Western Digital are recommended brands. There are others also. I am not sure if your machine would support eSata because eSata is relatively new standard. If you have a Firewire port and you have huge files to transfer, then firewire is recommended over USB. For small size files USB will do fine. Whatever type of drive you buy, cable will come with it.
