Firefox 3.0.5 problems

by parade - 1/3/09 9:32 PM

I can close the browser, but then it restarts by itself as tho it was starting for the first time. All my browser preferences (previously set) revert back to the default settings. I have read several suggestions that this has something to do with the profile. I checked, and only have 1 profile listed, the default one. I can not open it due because the directions say NOT to open unless the browser is closed, which as I stated above, never happens for more than a few seconds.
I have run several malware, antivirus and rootkit programs and have not found anything of consequence. I have also tried to do a system restore to a date previous to when this first started happening, but that didn't help either.
Any suggestions would be appreciated.

It's too easy not to try such.

Hope this helps.

I attempted to un/reinstall it, but it wouldn't let me since I couldn't close the current version, and keep it closed.

Other Firefox 3.05 issues

by rossmccloud - 1/29/09 6:43 AM In reply to: Firefox 3.0.5 problems by parade

Running..
XP Pro (with the latest service pack out..)
2G Ram

Issues... since the latest Microsoft download this week, Firefox is locking up two-three times a day now on my home computer.
I hear the hard disk running rapidly, but Firefox locks and I have to use Task Manager to shut it down.
Any clues on this? Seems to happen with a single tab or multiple tabs open.

I run Seamonkey without much trouble at all.
