I have a theory as to why Molly was demoted to BOL once a week. CNET never pays attention to listener complaints so her demotion must be the result of the co-hosts secretly going to CNET and complaining about Molly monopolizing the podcast and not allowing them to shine. They may even have gone en mass and threatened to quit. They all tried to put a happy face on this and said that she was pursuing "other opportunities" at CNET. I have no proof of this but I have seen similar things in other places. As I said, only a theory.
Did you even read Molly's explanation of the change? Its not a demotion at all, its actually her choice. I love a good conspiracy theory more than anyone, but she's pretty much stated the case:

Molly is already on Gadgettes, Buzz Report, and Mailbag on a weekly basis. I doubt that Cnet would allow Molly so much air time if they were being flooded with complaints. I'm sure Molly would be flattered if you said that she was too much of a headliner to ever be considered a co-host ![]()
...you may not have meant it like that but this kind of thing can easily get interpreted as or turn into malicious gossip. Imagine someone running around a village and spreading storie like this without knowing what was really going on, nobody wants or likes that and it's really pretty much the same thing.
Guys, I hate to see Molly leave BOL full time as much as anyone (Buzz Report was the podcast that got me hooked on cnet), but to be honest, I am just glad CBS did not shut the whole thing down the day after the sale was done.
If CBS does not see the up side to having all of this talent - we might all be forced to listen to Twit (just joking Leo).
Show your support for ALL your favorite podcasts, live feds and talent now so the huge conglomerate does not set the geeks free.
What, are you drunk? "Freedom of speech"? We're using CNET servers right now, and they have whatever they want on their servers, they don't have to allow every possible comment just because of "freedom of speech". Freedom of speech means you can start your own website were you can talk this nonsense all you want all day long, and no one can stop you. It doesn't give you an inalienable right to say whatever you want here.
You honestly think Tom and Jason went to the bosses at CNET and threatened to "quit en masse" because of Molly? What have you been drinking? They love Molly! They're probably really sad she's leaving the full-time gig. And if they really hated her so much, why would she still be on once a week?
Stop spreading these ridiculous rumors and attacking Molly. She's awesome! If you dislike her so much, stop listening to the show.
I don't usually visit BOL, but I saw your post in my wanderings.
Molly of course is much loved by everyone in BOL, at least, that's what we tell her, ![]()
Seeing Molly move from a daily to a weekly host is very sad, but Molly has explained the situation herself, and surfpark has linked to that explanation in his reply to the first post in this thread.
So personally I see no reason to delete this thread, nor to ban anyone. No harm has been done. I hope you understand.

These theories are no less than malicious rumors. Yes, the OP referred to them as theories but shine a negative light on a host that a solid majority of the listeners have the utmost respect for.
Anyone who has a small child like Molly (I have 3) knows how much energy they take out of you. I'm sure between doing Buzz Report, Gadgettes, BOL, and everything else at work plus running after Eli (and her husband) after she gets home made Molly a tad tired.
Something had to give, and although I'm sure at times giving Eli away to passing gypsys feels like a good idea, the better choice is to become a once a week host of BOL.

...aliens from outer space came down after hearing the show and complained about the host that seems to "rant" all the time. The alien race in question has laws against ranting and finds it offensive that our primitive race allows such behavior. They then took over the mind of the president of CBS and forced him to demote Molly to only being on the show once a week. You see, if they totally fired her, it would look too suspicious and the aliens did not want to be seen as meddling in the affairs of humans. This is just a theory you see, but I'm thinking it is as likely to be true as your theory, so I thought I would post it.
Please note that if I disappear, never to be heard from again, it is likely due to the aliens finding me and trying to silence me. I will lay low to try and prevent this from happening.
I thought about not even replying to this post, but obviously I should make this clear:
Speaking for myself, it sucks to see Molly cut down to once a week. Let's face it... it was a working formula. And being able to sit in the studio on a daily basis with Tom and Molly was a gift. But I always knew deep down that there would be a day when things would change.
I sympathize with Molly. I can understand that doing a show like BOL for nearly four years can be a challenge, especially when you factor in all of the other stuff she's working on daily. Tom has been doing the show for the same amount of time. It's gotta be challenging keeping up that intensity day in and day out. I can speak from my own experience, and the word "intensity" sums it all up perfectly.
Keep in mind. BOL isn't just an hour out of our day. Factoring prep time, publishing, recording, and the recent addition of live-streaming the whole thing, it's a half-day's worth of work EVERY SINGLE DAY. That can get tiring.
There are enough listeners of BOL that I realize: ya can't please everyone. No matter what, some people are going to hate a Molly-less podcast. Some people are gonna love it. Some people are gonna welcome Natali as the new host... others won't. Man, I faced the same thing when I started speaking up. We got a good amount of mail from people who didn't care to hear my opinion on things. I never took it personally because there's a lot of listeners out there, all looking for something different that pulls them in and they aren't always going to meet in the middle on everything.
And let's not forget that we've already gone through a major change with the podcast when Veronica left the show. Listeners were all doom and gloom when that happened, and dare I say that the show survived and began a new incarnation... the incarnation that you are all fearful of ending right here and now. When V left, some listeners stopped listening (or at least, threatened to via email)... but others came in at that time too... and they actually liked what they heard.
I know I'm rambling, but let it be known that I'm sad to see Molly strip down to one day a week, but she's not going away! She's still on the show every week. We'll still be covering the day's tech news stories. You'll still get a Molly rant here and there. Possibly a song outburst, or strange doodly-flab style word.
And to say that Tom and I went behind Molly's back to get here off the show is just unfounded and completely rediculous (as in: I laughed out loud when I read it). I do a weekly podcast with Molly... it's called Gadgettes... and that show just wouldn't be the same without her. She brings a special light to the shows she's on. Why on earth would I want to push her out the door? Are you nuts?!
Also, I've seen some people freaking out about the choice of Natali as the co-host... All I can say is give Natali a chance before you cut her down. This show is challenging and takes some time to settle into. It's a challenge for anyone to hop in there and say "all the right things in all the right ways" five days per week for a wide listenership. I know that Natali will settle into this hosting spot fantastically. Give her a chance.
That's all. I hope I didn't just put my foot in my mouth. I guess time will tell. Later!
This post should have been deleted given it's nature but in the mean time let us handle the trolls.
