3 MP3s

by tech_junkie14 - 12/19/08 10:51 PM In reply to: Poll: Do you have an MP3 player? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

Yes, the first MP3 player i ever owned was a Creative Zen Vision: M. It was 30GB and awesome!! I like it a lot!!!! Soon though, I upgraded to a first-gen iPod touch and was my first ever iPod from Apple. I never really liked the iPods with the click-wheel. Which is why I never owned one. Soon after the touch, I got a new phone, the iPhone 3G. And am with it ever since. I still own my Zen though. Never plan on letting it go.

We seem to be an iFamily

My 30-something-year-old son has the original iPod. Has it hooked up to his car radio somehow.
My daughter-in-law has my original, old Shuffle I gave her, which she didn't want, but now absolutely loves.
My 20-something-year-old daughter has the new iPod Classic as well as the iPhone. She has a microphone on the Classic and records college lectures. Her iPhone has helped her several times when she got lost in her college town.
My husband has a black Nano.
I have the Nano (red product). I am considering giving that to my grandson and getting the iPod Touch for me.
We all love our players and wouldn't be without them even if we can't use them all the time.
Except for the Shuffle, we all appreciate the calendar, schedule and photo features too.

Zune 80GB black
Sony Walkman 8GB something
and Sony Ericsson w760a
Each has different uses. Zune if I want everything at once. The Sony Walkman for exercising. The Sony Ericsson for not wanting to carry anything else and don't want to switch between music and calls. I will never ever go back to an iPod. Went through 3 and after converting to Sony and Zune won't go back. The Sony Ericsson doesn't have that much memory (512mb) so I reserve it for going through school or if I want to listen to a handful of songs over and over again.

Clix>K3>Sony A816>Sansa Fuze> Undecided

by TinyJess - 1/20/09 9:36 AM In reply to: Poll: Do you have an MP3 player? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

I have at present a 4GB Sansa Fuze (with 8GB microSD in place). And I honestly hate it. I got it just before Christmas and it took 6 hours to get my music on it. And it's got little quirks that get on my nerves. I only bought it because I murdered the best MP3 player I've owned: Sony NWZ-A816. I dropped it outside in the rain and wanted to wait until after CES to invest in an expensive replacement. I have my eyes set on another Sony. I've had an iriver clix (gen 1) and a Samsung K3. They all have nice sound quality but the Sony has players in 16GB WITHOUT touch screens (ahem P2/3). And I am just completely unimpressed with Ipod. I have Itunes installed and it is ANNOYING. I looked into a Zune but it's sooooooo restricted. ugh...

iPod Nano 3g. 8GB Pink.

by ColonelTravis - 1/20/09 10:09 PM In reply to: Poll: Do you have an MP3 player? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

I was actually insane enough to name my iPod. :P Oh well.
The middle button is getting a bit loose, probably after too many games of Klondike. Doesn't matter, though. So far I'm loving it.

Seems like a pointless thread, but since you asked...

I've got a red 30GB Zune which I upgraded with an 80GB drive. Used just for videos.

I've got a black 30GB Zune, used for music and podcasts.

I've got a 30GB Philips PMC7230, used mostly for videos. Also used as a DVR when hooked to my TV. Recording TV shows with a device that fits in the palm of your hand is kinda cool.

I've got a Sandisk Sansa e260v2 4GB (w/4GB micro SDHC card). The small form factor is nice.

I have had great luck with them all. I like each for different reasons.

FWIW, the Zunes seem to have the best sound quality, followed by the Sansa. The Philips sounds like crap, but is nice for watching and recording of video.

My little mp3 player looks like it has been discontinued but it works great and the battery life is excellent. I have the 2GB and love it.

Yes- I have a Zune, not an Ipod

by classicvibe - 4/28/09 11:26 PM In reply to: Poll: Do you have an MP3 player? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

My friends at school all had iPods, so I was kinda of sick of them and decided to get a Zune instead. I'm happy with it because it's different and at the same time provides the same functionality of an iPod

Current lineup

by make_or_break - 5/2/09 11:19 AM In reply to: Poll: Do you have an MP3 player? by Lee Koo (ADMIN) Moderator

In order of their amount of usage:
Sony NWZ-A829
Creative Zen X-Fi 32GB
Zune80 (a really nice-sounding device, though more or less retired because the Zune client crapware keeps destroying metadata and album art info in iTunes...there some things I simply CANNOT tolerate)

I'd include my 2G iPod Touch...except its mediocre sound quality disqualifies it as being a REAL music player. Coverflow and Genius DO NOT make for a great music listening experience (hint, hint Apple...)

I have a few ipods and non ipods.
1st, 3rd Gen Nano (1gb and 8gb)
1st Gen ipod Touch,

Panasonic SV-SD750v
Sony MZ- N707 (Mini disc but in mp3/aac format)

Was using my SonyE as mp3 player for a moment (SE W880i).

Each of them are good in some ways, though for me, non ipod players (especially the panasonic and sonyE) have the best bass (to me if it's heavy enough) as the ipods are still weak in it and that's using the same headphones throughout each of them.

3rd Gen Nano's software seems weird as if I have songs of almost full to 80%, it never remember's the previous selection after selecting it to play.

1st Gen ipod Touch, not very good experience for me as I consistently have hardware failure for the replacement set due to either battery losing charge suddenly overnight, PCB board failure, earphone jack 'damaged' despite being well looked after. Sadly, it's the only player (and more so the only technical hardware) that failed me in less than 8months (shortest only 2months).

All ipods for me, songs in the playlist can never be sorted alphabetically (which is annoying), be it artist or song title, even though, of course, iTunes has it looked sorted.
