Yes,according to me XP is far more better than Vista because of its low system requirements. Although Vista has very good themes and appearance, it requires at least 1GB of RAM to run properly whereas XP can run on 128MB RAM also and is quite fast.
Some of my friends have used Vista and say that its not good. Moreover, Microsoft is also launching new windows so early because they know that vista is not good and is not liked by people.
So,I recommend you to wait for windows 7.
If you are ready to buy a new system I think you should change your operating system into a Vista. I am running Vista Home Basic SP1 and I am very pleased of it because is very easy to use. And it is not expensive.
i think you should wait till many stores have their sales to liquidate the vista systems, especially if its true about the free upgrade, that way you get a good deal on the computer and you can make the decision about the OS after playing with vista. also, if windows 7 turns out to be really faulty on its release, you can hold back the upgrade and save yourself the head aches. another thing about getting a cheap vista computer is that if you later decide to upgrade, the money you save on the deal, you can use for W7 if it turns out not to be free so you will really be back to where you started financualy
vista is nothing but trouble, so windows will be best, but there will not be many programs you can install to start...
I have vista, 2 years now, and it is problems all the way...
I am not going to bother with windows anymore, I am going for apple mac.
Even though it is more expensive, it will be worth it for peace of mind, and a less stressful life...with windows, I spend i/2 my time doing maintenance and repairs...
If you can afford it, then I recommend you get a mac, even a used one if you can't afford a new one...
What problems? What software will not load? Give us specifics...
With the the help of updates from Microsoft and efforts by hardware manufactures to update their drivers, Vista now functions just as well as Windows XP. There are also a lot of good usability and security features in Vista that make it a good choice.
And as I understand it, Windows 7 is supposed to be a more business-friendly operating system, not necessarily a replacement for Vista.
I'm using Vista home premium now for about one year, and I must say without any problems. Starting up takes less than a minute, and there are very helpfull functions like the search engine. It could help that my PC is high-end ( Acer 8920) wich makes a difference. Anyway, if you intend to buy a new one, go for the better, it will last longer.
Only small problem I had was with very large folders, movies of over 500Mb as a single piece. Explorer seemed to have a problem with that and was shutting down after a while. Alltough working with these large folders was no problem at all.
I would certainly go for the Vista with SP1 again. Who knows when windows 7 will be ready? And it can take another 2 years before all the buggs are fixed.
The simple answer - wait. At least until after July 1st. Microsoft is going to provide a free upgrade to Windows 7 (when released) after that date.
Contrary to the ever so popular rumor mill FUD machine, Vista is actually a pretty good operating system. Is it perfect? No. Nothing is. It IS a bit of a leap from Windows 2000 to Vista. There are new features and the interface has changed, but the basic root concept that is Windows hasn't changed much. Be prepared to spend some quality time learning the new stuff. It'll be well worth your while. Windows 7 builds on the Vista paradigm - so it'll be a bit easier when/if you upgrade to 7.
On the other hand, if your hardware will last until July, you're better off as the coupon to buy the upgrade will save you some money.
I would imagine that Microsoft will likely release a Release Candidate by July considering Windows 7 Beta 1 will cease to function on August 1st and they've gone on the record there won't be a 2nd Beta. What that means for the actual release date... That's pretty much impossible to predict. Betas tend to be that way. We'll see.
This is only my personal opinion, however, after upgrading to vista & finding it a culprit of devistating my daily routine, then taking the time to once again flatten my system to re-install XP to regain my sanity - YES wait for 7 it's just gotta be a better experience than Vista!!! Microsoft are depending upon it to be.
Should I await the Windows 7 or remain quiet on the excellent Win XP Pro SP3 ?

hallo, i thank i weating op the first patch for windows 7 bevor i sale a new system.
windows 7 has had a lot of improvements from vista.
It has a faster startup compared with vista and Microsoft have got Windows 7 to use less RAM than vista
Other people who use their computer for gaming and are running Windows se7en have noticed a greater improvement playing games as a result of the little RAM needed
I would recommend waiting for Windows se7en, which should be available some time next year for launch even though test versions are available for download now
Even in it's Alpha stage Windows 7 is better than Vista. You could all ways try linux (http://www.linux.org/). I have 4 year old laptop that was running XP really slowly so I installed ubuntu (http://www.ubuntu.com/) and it runs like new!
I find vista a load of rubbish.
