Shimmering Bar on Top of SD Picture (LN32A550)
by NikEst - 1/9/09 10:43 PMI just bought a LN32A550 and if I tune a standard def channel through my DVR over a HDMI connection there is a thin horizontal bar at the very top of the picture that shimmers (only within the actual picture, it doesn't extend to the black bars on the sides). If I tune a high def channel, the bar is gone for the show, but it's there for commercials that are still in standard def.
Cable box...

Often times, these can be attributed to the cable box. See if they can update your box remotely; that usually does the trick.
You can also try a different HDMI port and see if there's a better handshake that would remove this.
