I have an 80 gb 2.5 laptop hdd that i removed from an old vaio and put in an external hd case. When i plugged it into my new vista laptop it worked fine but now it wont show up under my computer. I get the safely remove hardware icon in my taskbar though. I ran a program called teskdisk-win and windows disk management and the drive comes up as only a 10gb drive. I dont know what to do. I worked fine the first time and now nothing. Anyone have any ideas?
Carl
I just corrected one like that. We had to wipe the drive with DBAN (beware its use since it can wipe out all connected drives!) and with a clean drive we connected it to the XP machine to partition and format it there. Now it works on both machines.
Vista's just eerie about that issue. Good luck finding an article about GPT protected partitions.
