When I plug my new Sony Walkman into any USB port, my desktop PC does not recognise it - device manager lists it as 'unknown device". I know the walkman works okay as my laptop picks it up okay.
I am running XP SP3 and the Walkman is a NWZ-B135F model. I looked for a driver but the Sony site tells me there are none for this model.
Any ideas ?
Opening Windows Media Player, or what ever media player your using BEFORE you plug in the Walkman?
I will try that but not sure it will make any difference. When I plug the walkman into other computers it is recognised as a drive with folders that I can browse etc.
Just this week I helped a similar issue. After 20 posts they installed an USB 2.0 hub inbetween the PC and the device and the device worked.
I'm going to shortchange you on purpose. Please try that.
Bob
Thanks Bob. How would I install a USB2.0 hub ? Do I need to buy and install some new USB ports ?
Before: USB port to Walkman.
After: USB port to USB hub to Walkman.
Your choice to try it.

16 posts to get the USB hub test done. You can imagine I'd like to try this sooner without so many back and forths. And that's not the only time this week. No offense on anyone's part here. Just an easy test to see if it's that issue.
Thanks Bob.
Hi Bob, I bought a USB hub and now my walkman works. Thanks for the help !
