I recently purchased a SAMSUNG LN52A650. The picture quality is outstanding and I am extremely pleased with the televsion. I originally had COMCAST service and then this past weekend changed to VERIZON FIOS. The tech installed my service on Saturday. All day Saturday and Sunday the tv and the stb worked well together. I came home from work Monday and when I turned on my tv it couldn't find a signal coming from the cable box.
I am using an HDMI connection between the stb and tv.
I called the FIOS tech and he had me unplug the cable box, wait 30 seconds and plug it back in. He had me check the HDMI cable to make sure it was completely plugged into both ports. Finally, I was able to get a picture after he reinitialized the box. He told me to switch to using component cables and told me to update my firmware. I had already updated my firmware the day my tv was delivered.
While searching internet for solutions I found postings claiming that the FIOS signal may actually damage the circuitry in some SAMSUNG televisions. IS THIS TRUE?
I do not want to use component cables since the picture quality will be degraded. I switched to FIOS because I heard it had a better picture.
Should I go back to COMCAST with my tail between my legs or is there a true "fix" to this problem?
