I have an Inspiron 1520 that is prone to getting very hot (I got the top-of-the-line video card in it and am now paying the price in heat). I previously had a Targus notebook cooler that basically died on me (the fans started making funny noises even though there was nothing caught in them).
I am looking for a reasonably-priced, RELIABLE laptop cooling solution that will keep my poor system from over-heating and will last. If anyone has used any products that they would be willing to recommend, let me know.
Thanks,

That unit does have a warranty. Why not get a new one?
As to your question, I think today's gear makers are far too fixated on costs to worry about quality. Those Targus last a few years so we replace them when they wear out.

I had no idea that Targus would replace it. It ended up in the latest pile of trash that came out of my apartment because I figured I had no use for it any more. With that option out the window would you recommend I get another Targus or have you noticed any other brands that work well?
At the office we use Targus and "other." The others are the no names that are 10 or 20 bucks like you see at http://www.geeks.com/products_sc.asp?cat=373
These are mechanical devices with moving parts so we expect them to fail.
