Have I got a lemon in form of HP Pavilon DV4t ?

by austere_sly - 12/12/08 4:35 AM

I got HP Pavilion DV4t in early September. It had first battery issue in mid October and now similar issue in December. Both times batteries have been replaced. So in around 3 months of ownership I have had two similar problems. It has also restarted 3-4 time, but I couldn't check why. On other hand I have a Dell Vostro 1500 which has worked flawless for a year now.

So I am getting a feeling may be I have got a bad product. Do I have an option to get total refund ? If yes then how should I proceed for it.

Thanks

Call it in.

That and the dv6000 line seem to see an issue now and then. HP in the US has been very quick on the repairs from days to at most 14 days so far (during an ice storm!)

Call it in would mean ?

I will agree on the service part. They have been quick and never showed any reluctance in shipping replacements. But such failures in short duration shakes customer's confidence in the product. Is there any criteria with which a refund or replacement of complete unit is decided by HP ?

Ask them.

They have to make that call. All I can share is that usually the first fix cures most with a rare second round.
