Looking for a Laptop
by hedshotx - 12/2/08 2:54 PMI am currently searching for a laptop for myself and was wondering what would be my best options. I am getting ready for college and am going to be mostly using it for school/recreation. I need a nice laptop that can browse the internet easily, is decently fast, is very reliable and has a good lifespan, would be nice if it was nice looking ( i can't stand ugly laptops ), a decent to good monitor, nice features, and last but not least a cheap to decent price. I have a fairly decent desktop that I can use for more advanced games so a newer GPU isn't really needed. I plan on hopefully getting it off of craigslist or ebay, or a good wholesale website. Any reliable websites would be good to know too. I have done a little research and have found the Apple G4 and the Dell Latitude D610 to look decent. How are these laptops? What laptops would you suggest?

I would say look on craigs list or ebay for a used one or see if you can get a dell, hp, etc... credit card so you can pay like $20 a month. Not sure with Acer but HP, Dell, and Apple give discounts to students.

Just get something cheap but make sure you get lots of ram.

Unless your into Linux, make sure it comes with the OS. Test the battery to see if it keeps a charge.(Try to stay away from anything Sony) In buying used notebooks look for IBM/Lenovo, Dell, HP, or apple. Also make sure its only 4 years older or less. I would go for 2 yrs or less. Windows 2000 and up for OS. I would also look in to Ubuntu if you can't get an OS CD. Did I forget anything?
