Acer H213H LCD Monitor for iBuypower Gamer PC Nvidia GTX 280

by keithianw - 12/3/08 10:28 PM

I just bought a gaming desktop, Intel Core 2 Quad Q9550 8GB DDR2, Nvidia GeForce GTX 280 Windows Vista Home 64-bit. I saw great reviews for the Acer H213 Monitor at NewEgg.com. Its advertised as a 1920x1080 monitor. What I dont understand is why the instructions would say to set you windows resolution at 1680x1050 after you ensure that your system can support 1920*1080? Why would you have to set windows to a lower resolution then the monitor?????? Can I still set games to 1920x1080? Any thoughts would be greatly appreciated.

Instructions

When I received the monitor, it is inside of a plastic bag and the instructions are in big black letters on the outside of the bag, sort of the same thing when you buy an appliance and it has this one page of WARNINGS that they want you to know if you dont read the user manual. It came with a cd, but nothing in the CD talked about resolution.

whoops, forgot to answer the second part of your question:

Last night I decided just to try the resolution at 1920x1080 regardless of what the instructions say on the outside of the bag. I set the Desktop to 1920x1080 and the game at the same and so far I dont see any issues. Just seems wierd that they would say on the bag that the resolution is 1920x1080 but then in the very next sentence tell you to set your desktop to a lower resolution.

That advice is usually given later.

When the owner calls in and complains the game play is slow. I'd go with what works.
