What software did you use to encrypt the folder?

Try uninstalling and reinstalling it and see if you can access the folder. If not, then contact the software manufacturer to see what you can do.

Regarding encryption

hey,
From the sounds of if , i'm guessing that you used the windows inbuilt encryption tool to encrypt those files , if you used other encryption tool , then there should be a decrypt option to decypt the files, if windows inbuilt encryption was used then you will need to use the same log in information/pass and account info that was used at the time of encrypting the files , of which chance are less as i think you already formatted the system :( , Sorry good luck

1. Type XP TAKE OWNERSHIP at google.com. Might help, might not.

2. Microsoft's EFS is undoable for not much at http://www.lostpassword.com
