Right now, I have a Linksys WRT54G router and two computers: a Lenovo T61 and an HP nc6000. I'm wondering if upgrading my router to, say, the Belkin N+ is going to make a huge speed difference with both or either of the two machines. I've got Optimum Broadband, which is fairly fast.
Thoughts?
Doutful. It might make LAN communications faster, but it won't have any effect on your Internet speeds unless you somehow have speeds in excess of 54Mbps and both systems have 11n wifi cards in them.
Read http://www.optimum.com/online/why/faster.jsp and the top speed is 30 million bits per second. Even old 802.11g can hit 54 million bits per second so you have enough wifi speed for even 2 machines.
