Stuttering Audio

by cpoarch - 11/10/03 11:47 AM

1) My 128MB RAM seems to have a problem multitasking with MS Windows Media Player. The audio "skips" on any CD I try to play if I am on the net or print something. WMP won't play at all if I'm doing something when I load a CD. Do I have a conflict...how do I correct? My OS is W98E, C:\ is 8MB, D:\ is 20MB, AMD Athlon mother board & Radeon 7500 graphics card.
2) Too many programs load at boot making boot very slow, some I don't recognize, such as "loading". How do I assess value & remove from boot?
3) My mouse & keyboard lose connection at my puter too often. I have to disconnect, reconnect & reboot. Is it bad end terminals?

Sounds like DMA issues. (Pun intended.)

1. The motherboard drivers are very important for such issues.

2. I noted the STARTER program at http://reviews.cnet.com/5208-6132-0.html?forumID=32&threadID=1313&start=0

3. Research what the last Windows 98 motherboard drivers were made for your machine. Install those and see if DMA is enabled for said drives.
