Note: As far as ASC's are concerned, they follow what Mitsubishi tells them. If Mitsubishi has no clue, then they do actual troubleshooting.
In Mitsubishi Diamond DLP's, certain problems can have more than one cause, and there is no way to narrow it down.
(A flashing timer light is one of these)
We have experienced massive frustration on the part of our customers with how slow Mitsubishi is with answering our technical support queries, and I wish you luck in your ambitions.
I have a Mitsubishi WD73827 Diamond Series DLP that has been nothing but a nightmare and headache. I get an average of 4 months on the bulb before the replacement notice comes up and now the light engine is gone. I have been waiting over 3 months for a repair. Supposedly the light engine has been on backorder. Why backorder? Because every one of the darn things is broken? I now have a 5 foot by 6 foot black box sitting in my room that is totally useless. Customer service is even more useless since it takes an average of 45 minutes to be told there is no help available. The bulbs go for $230 and the light engine is $1780. After my initial $5000 purchase price I am in for $8000. Run fast, run far, just run away from Mitsubishi products. Please include me in any class action.
i purchased a 2007 mitsubishi 65" diamond series tv in sept. 2006. it is now december 2007 and i have just recieved this tv back fron its third repair and now its on new lamp number 4. i purchased a 4 year extended warranty that would replace 1 free lamp for me. my free lamp is now used up on the warranty and at now i will have to pay out of pocket for any more lamp failures. at about $300 a lamp and at the pace that these lamps go out it will cost a small fortune just to keep this tv lit up. at 2-3 lamps per year it will cost $600 to $900 per year. mitsubishi will not even consider replacing this set for me because it is no longer under there first year warranty. and philips (the warranty people) say its not a lemon tv if the lamps go out. what a crock all the way around. please contact me in any suit that may be filed. in the meantime after the holidays i am planning on taking further action of some sort. we love the picture on this set and want to keep it but obviously it would be crazy to fix this set every few months. it has already spent about 1 1/2 months in the repair shop out of the 14 months i have owned it. in my mind mitsubishi should be the responsible party and either fix this set permantly, replace it or give me lamps to keep in stock so that i can replace them when they go out. as a consumer i thought i did all the right things when making this purchase. i bought there top of the line unit and purchased enough warranty to see me through the first 5 years. very unhappy camper,,,,,,,,,,,, i can be emailed at rjf183@aol.com. ron............
So, our lamp just burned out on our Diamond Series Mitsubishi TV after about 1200 hours of use. Should we expect to replace the lamp annually and $300+ a pop? This was not told to us upon sale at Pauls. Anyone else NOT told about this expense? Note: our 11 year old 25" RCA TV is still going strong. What a sad state of affairs for new Mitsubishi owners.
Yes that is typical, and if you can get 1 year of use out of it consistently, then that is just fine.
My salesman informed me that it would be every 2 years that we had to buy a new lamp. Needless to say, I was pretty pissed to find out I would be buying a new one every year.
Sign me up!
Purchased a WD-52631 on 5/20/07, lamp is gone by 1/30/08...
Checking here in AZ, NO RETAILER has a replacement bulb available to sell in Arizona! Calling Mitsubishi is a joke as they do not care... Can't get ahold of them... Retailer who we have an extended warranty with (w/ 1 free lamp replacement) cannot even honor the warranty as they have no bulbs to bring over... Looks like the tv is going to be down at least 2-3 weeks...
Where do I sign/join?
I was in a similar situation. I called a bunch of places and found one at Frys Electronics. I don't know if you have one nearby but give them a try.
Mike
I bought my 65732 qt fry's and after 13 mo needed a bulb and they took over 6 weeks to get me one . Needless to say I was very upset with fry's. I don't even want to do business with them any more. I also bought a 2 year extended waranty with them. Not Happy camper!
I have a wd-62525 and have purchased 2 bulbs in just over 3 years, second one just within the past month. Both times I have purchased them on-line and the price the first time was $140.00 and this last was $89.00. You know how to use the computer (you're here) start looking!
HELP! THIS DLP TV COSTING NEARLY 4K,BOUGHT ONLY 21/2 YEARS AGO, HAS ALREADY NEEDED 2 BULB REPLACEMENTS. NOW I DO NOT HAVE ANY VISION EVEN AFTER A NEW BULB.ALREADY PAID $350 FOR SOMEONE COMING OUT LAST YEAR.
ANYONE WITH SAME PROBLEM,BEFORE I GO AND SPEND MORE MONEY FOR REPAIRS.
Cannot believe how many consumers I have located on the Internet, with a complaints against Mitsubishi television sets. My problem is about the same with the green light diagnosis? My unit is a WS-55711, which I purchased some years ago. My employment is on cruise ships, so the tv has not had that much use, seeing that I'm only at home about 3 months of the year.
I called in a tech who actually got a just beautiful tv picture, for about 30 minutes than it went out, when we moved the set. He was their and flung his hands up in disgust around 10.30 at night, after being there from 3.00 oclock in the afternoon. First he messed with the DM board and was rewarded with a great picture. We ended up with me only paying him a $100.00 and another $400.00 for an Toshiba big screen, but not high definition.
I still want to get the big set working, so does anybody know a capable tech in the West San Fernando valley california?
I have since retired and are at home now....
I saw your post here regarding your defective Mitsubishi WS5711. I also noticed that you live in the west San Fernando Valley as do I (Woodland Hills). Did you ever get yours fixed, was it local and if so can I have the name?
Mine has a serious problem with the colors in the display ... somethings off and even setting/resetting "Convergence" didn't fix it.
I welcome your (and all) feedback.
Thanks
I also would be interested in a lawsuit against Mitsubishi. We had our 3rd buld burn out in July. This was in 11 months. During each instance we sat without our television and very slow service for 4-6 weeks. We purchased our television through Circuit City and on one of our calls, their sales person said we could come in and buy another. I don't think we will be doing so any time soon. On Christmas day, yesterday, our lamp light came on and the tv went blank again. Now we are off our 12 month warranty and onto our extended warrenty. We were told today that the lamps are on back-order so we are probably looking at a couple weeks before one is shipped out.
If you are moving foward with this suit, please let me know.

ive personally seen many people with your situation and i always advise them to take the offer of another product as a replacement
let circuit repair the tv at their service center ( if they still have any) but after they replace yours...normally the retailer wont bother with it but instead get a credit from the manufacturer
