Log-in then black screen.

by theonlybuster - 11/16/08 3:33 AM

I have a laptop running Vista 32bit. Here's the problem, whenever I enter my login information in the windows login screen and attempt to log in, my laptop screen turns black for about 30 seconds before finally showing my desktop.
It does it any and every time I return to my desktop from the log-in screen whether I simply switch users, log out, hibernate, shut down, sleep, or anything that involves the log-in screen.
Any idea what's going on here and how should I go about fixing this?

there isn't really a way to fix it

you might be able to shorten the blackout time (after login)

if you remove any files on the desktop that are larger than 800mb
also check out msconfig to pull off any unneeded startup programs-
goto the search in start menu > type msconfig > hit enter > goto startup tab > uncheck everything but your AV program, mouse, audio/video

well this was after a fresh install of the OS. After 2 reinstalls it seems to be fine. But I guess it's one of those things that windows just does, kinda like the same bug w/ XP when you're installing.
