Microsoft only produced the PP viewer for System 9 and System 9 under OS X (Classic)
Apple's Keynote, part of the iWork suite, can handle PP presentations as can Microsoft Office for Mac.
Both of the above are not free. iWork is $79 (could be less) and MS Office starts at $130 for the Student/Teacher edition and goes upwards from there.
Open Office is FREE. It will open PP presentations and has a good price. You can see it Here

Seems that there is no current PPC (your G4) version of Neo Office and it does not seem as though there ever will be.
Open Office does run on a PPC processor and can be found Here

Just updated mine

I am currently running NeoOffice 2.2.5 on my Powerbook G4. In fact, I just updated it to Patch 4.
However, I am using 10.4.11. Don't know if that makes any difference.

Although 2.2.5 will run on the G4, finding it seems to be a problem.
Version 3.0 is the one currently posted and that is Intel only.
If you have a link for downloading 2.2.5, please post it here.

Not sure where you're looking, but the current version of NeoOffice posted is 2.2.5. NeoOffice 3.0 will be available for early access for donaters in mid-January. As for OpenOffice proper, 2.4.0 seems to be the latest for English on PowerPC (although other languages have 3.0 for PPC?), which 3.0 on Intel. I can always try compiling 3.0 for PowerPC if need be. Apple's developer tools will allow PPC applications to be compiled on Intel Macs and vice versa.

Thank you for all of your repLies to my inquiry. Please excuse my ignorance, as I am new to the Mac world. Do I understand that there is a free download available that will allow me to view PowerPoint ? Again, I have a PowerBook G4. I am not sure of the vintage. This leads me to another question. If I have the serial number, is there somewhere that I can go to find out what year my PowerBook is?

Yes, just download Open Office or Neo Office and you will be able to view Power Point presentations.
As to your other question, go Here and enter your serial number in the space provided.
It will not tell you exactly when your PowerBook was made but will narrow it down to a year and series of PowerBooks.

Once you have installed one of these packages, you can use the presentation software to open a PowerPoint file. To download NeoOffice, click on http://www.neooffice.org/neojava/en/download.php#download and download NeoOffice 2.2.5. If you would prefer Open Office, clicking on http://openoffice.bouncer.osuosl.org/?product=OpenOffice.org&os=macosxppc&lang=en-US&version=2.4.0 should get you a version that will run on your machine. (NeoOffice is said to be optimized for the Mac, so you might want to try that one.) Once you have installed your free productivity package, open the application called Impress and use it to open your PPS file.
Let us know how this works out.
