LAPTOP RAM in PC?

by chiragmehta - 11/12/08 12:30 PM

I am planning to build a new computer, I mean assemble one. I want to know if there is any way I can use RAM from my old laptops. I have 2 gigs of Laptop memory and since I am on a budget I would really like to use that RAM.
Is there any way I can use it in a PC?

Insufficient information

if we take your question litterly "I am planning to build a new computer" with NEW being the operative word then NO.
What motherboard you purchase will dictate the type of ram required.

Laptop RAM and PC RAM are usually different, although as mentioned by the other poster, it's tough to know unless you tell us the specifics about the two different motherboards.

Hope this helps.

I'll say no

I'll say no to that one, because almost without exception, laptop memory is different from desktop memory in terms of size and the number of connection pins. You might be able to find a few adapter products out there, but they will most likely cause you more trouble than they're worth.
