I'm looking for a new HDTV this winter so should i get the Sony Bravia KDL-32L4000 or Vizio VO32L. I've been leaning toward sony because i've been seeing really good reviews for it. but what do you guys think?
It has one annoyance worth noting. Maybe there is a menu to fix it but here it is. When I hit Mute the Closed Captioning doesn't kick in. Believe it or not that's my only nit I'd like to solve.
Some may not like the long start up time. Go try it. Walk up and turn it off, wait a few seconds and then time how long it takes to show a screen. It's longer than some sets.
Now for a real nice feature. I find the sound volume to not blast on commercials. Their volume AGC really works and is a nice upgrade from our old set.
In closing, Sony's SD upconversion is pretty good.

Bob,
It took me awhile to get used to the long startup time on my Sony. I finally got over it as I figured it was a way to increase the life of the TV since it seemed as though the electonics would get slowly jolted instead of a sudden surge.
As far as the CC not coming on when the Mute is pressed, make sure that either your cable box or satellite box has CC enabled. I forgot about this on my TV then realized that I needed to enable my cable box's CC before it showed up on the TV.

One is 'Mute' and the other is 'Closed Captioning'. Both work fine and the CC does show up if you tap the CC button. But on my old set I had it set to show CC when Muted.
Hope this clarifies this.

I have two Vizio's the SV420XVT and the VO32LF as well as an older Sony model and feel that my Vizio is far superior picture quality-wise. Fantastic quality for the price. An excellent purchase in my opinion and I just got the December issue of Consumer Reports and the recommended the VO32L as well.
