I have tried velvet poodle's recommendations but cannot get past the C++ does not run in 64 bit. How to do that?
I deleted 2 rows of the msi file using orca and the installation seemed to be fine.
However I tried setting XP compatibility mode but still can't get around the audio wizard error.
Would appreciate any suggestions! Thanks!

As a complete side note here to all of these posts, I am personally holding off on these "fixes" as Nuance has now officially stated that a 64-bit supported ver will be released later this year, per my request for support on this issue with the new Ver 10 Released this past week. Nuances official response to me is as follows:

Wow!
I too made it through DNS installation onto my HP Pavillion dv6000 laptop running 64 bit Vista using the Orca fix. In next running the audio.exe in XP compatibility mode, I was repeatedly unable to pass the audio quality test. I went to BestBuy and a Geek Squadder walked me through repeated read-throughs of the volume/quality text, noting that even when we re-set the microphone volume/boost levels before the test they would be re-set when we re-opened them again... so we left them open while testing and finally arrived at a combo that passed (29 vol/20+db, for what that is worth.) His theory was that the program was trying to re-set the volume after we had already set it. I brought the machine home, reconnected to my external monitor, net, power source, etc. and tried to fire up DNS and get the same Audio Wizard error again ("Audio set-up wizard cannot find the sound system".) What is more, when I tried to duplicate the successful completion of volume/quality test using the levels that worked at BestBuy, with no luck. I even disconnected everything again (so the laptop was in the same situation is what when it passed... no luck.) I am starting to wonder if there is a stable way to run DNS in this environment. I wanted to add my thanks as well for the actual installation fix. Any more insights on set-up would be much appreciated.
DNS is a sensative program and often if you are using old microphones or poor quality ones then DNS will not use them. Try buying a little more expensive microphone (it will save you a lot of trouble). As well don't boost the microphone with DNS because it doesn't pick up on that well. Otherwise if youre confident your mic is high enough quality make sure the proper drivers are installed for it - check both the microsoft and manufacturer website.
still get the error. Any thoughts? Do you have sp1?
hi drfred123
You don't double click on Dragon NaturallySpeaking 9.msi to launch the installation, you only use NaturallySpeaking 9.msi just to modify the LaunchCondition with Orca. To launch the installation You have to double click on setup.exe and follow the procedure. Hopefully that should work for you.
------------------------------------------------------------------
From the LaunchCondition I only cut out these two details and the installation seems to work:
((Not Version9X=400) And (Not Version9X=410) And (Not Version9X=490) And (Not VersionNT=400)) OR NOOSCHECK=1 [ProductName] requires that your computer is running Windows 2000 or Windows XP or Windows 2003 Server
Not VersionNT64 [ProductName] is not supported on 64-bit operating system and cannot be installed.

The audio wizzard gave me a lot of difficulty because I couldn't train my voice. VoiceBar keeps on fluctuating up and down even though am not speaking in to the microphone, I think it is because it's got to do with something of HD high-quality sound system in 64 bit Windows Vista but it works perfectly fine on my 32 bit Windows Vista . thus I went into my sound system (click start/control panel/sound/recording and double clicked on to microphone) I turned the volume up 100% then went into advanced and changed the default format to the highest as it can go. Went back to the audio wizzard and retrained it keeps on doing the same thing but I managed to go through after a couple of minutes to the second part of the audio wizzard then trained that up it wasn't that difficult and it works now ![]()
I hope the information I gave helps you to solve your problems.
Thank you everyone for your help of this product installation I really appreciate it and good luck with your once
Still gives me same error message. Wonder where it comes from? All hope is lost, I guess
how about burning it on the disc after modifying the Dragon NaturallySpeaking 9.msi
maybe that will help the installation
good luck
I think that you are making the same mistake that I kept on making despite reading the forum over and over again.
After saving the .msi file go to the setup file and install the program from there.
Regarding the microphone, I too found that turning the volume up to 100% and turning the microphone sensitivity to DVD quality I could get the programme to accept the microphone.
The programme said that the sound quality was very bad, but the training was easy, and the voice recognition was excellent.
the audio file was in C:\Program Files (x86)\Nuance\NaturallySpeaking9\Program
Thank you for the wonderful help of this forum.
I tried the Microsoft VISTA voice recognition program and I don't think the Dragon dictate has anything to worry about.
still get a 1772 error problem with windows installer package
has anyone found a way to get dns 10 to install on a 64bit system?
I get prompted with a c++ runtime error that I can't get around.
for what its worth, I was able to install 9.5 using the orca hack described above on a toshiba satellite a305-s6898 with an intel core 2 duo t5800 processor with the 64bit vista operating system sp1.
Hi
This hack worked well for me in 9.5 but I did not have any luck installing version 10.0 I think because it wants to install some kind of Windows library which I can't figure out the installer hack for. I do have it working via remote desktop on my Toshiba R500 and 10 seems to be much better than 9.5.
Since it is working I am not going to try anymore but I would like to know if anybody has installed 10.0 on Vista 64. Also it is alleged that Nuance will release a 64 version of 10 professional by the end of the year.
