I finally have a computer that is fast enough to handle most pc games and I am looking for a good horror PC game...something with zombies or pirates, underwater, hauntings, etc.
Any good links or suggestions would be greatly appreciated.
Well, horror games really aren't my thing, but there is one game that kind of comes to mind. It's a bit older, so can't really say if it'll work on Vista or not. It ran on XP fine, so chances are good.
Anyway, the game is Thief 3: Deadly Shadows. It's more of a stealth action game, but it has a lot of horror elements in it once you get past the first couple of levels. You'll explore a ghost ship with lots of zombies on it, you'll visit a haunted mental institution, there's a lot of a sort of mysticism worked into the game, and the big bad is a kind of undead monster sort of thing.
It's about as close I come to horror games though. More of an RPG person myself.
Doom 3 was an OK game. Still looks really good.
Vampire: The Masquerade
There is Half life 2. Not really a a horror game. There is zombies like people. ( And it really is a great game)
Condemned maybe
I agree with all your game picks except vampire. Not in that order though
Bioshock
Half life 2
Condemned
Doom 3 w/ expansion
also Obsecure is a new game and only 15$, I personally have not played it though
Darksector looks good but not sure about scary, lots of gore though
lmao Proffitt you got that right Vista is a nightmare from HELL!
DOOM 3 is definitely the scariest game that i've ever played.
Play it alone in the dark with the volume up and I assure you you'll shat your pants :P
Haha well if you love fast pace action horror, hmmmm try Resident Evil 4 on PC. My friend played it on his computer. It will most likely work for vista just right click property it and make it compatible if you have any problems. Hmmm try Penumbra at this site

Also there's prey, and stalker have a happy horror killing spree. Don't play in the dark now hahaha and put your volume all the way up. Watch out Michael Jackson might rape you. LOL just kidding. But hope this is good enough for you.
Resident Evil 4 is probably my favorite video game of all time, but the PC port is terrible. The controls are broken and it doesn't even support for using a mouse (an unofficial hack to add mouse support can be found and it helps but still can't totally fix the horrible, horrible controls that make the game about a million time more difficult then it should be).
DOOM 3 with no questions asked.I still remember the shivers I used to get when playing it all alone in the middle of the night with max volume. Keep the emergency numbers at speed dial before you try this ![]()
Some great oldies...
The Thief series (esp. the first)
System Shock
Aliens vs. Predators
Now...
Bioshock
Dead Space (scary but some game play issues)
Far Cry (once the mutants start showing up)
and just out and not played yet...
Left 4Dead
No one mentioned Fear.It had me on the edge.also Bioshock, the Penumbra series and Prey were my favorites.
I thought this was a great horror game. It was simple, and a little short, but you sit there with the lights off....forget about it. It's like you're there. Very spooky.
