I have been looking over the specs for these two sets, and it appears (if the information and my memory serve correctly) that the differences are:
* one more HDMI input on the 650
* different color for body (cosmetic difference -- couldn't care less)
* CNET claims 650 has input of 1080p, but 550 lacks this input
* 550 has DNle+ and 650 has DNle Pro (couldn't find any info about this -- is it the same thing?)
Can somebody better in the know delineate the exact differences, please?
sweitzen,
You are correct about the HDMI port. Both panels will show 1080p. The DNIe (Digital Natural Image Engine) improvements are there in the 650, as is an improvement on the ACE Silhouette Editor, which is a false contour reduction technology that delivers clearer images without contour lines.
Some of the other minor differences is that the A650 has Ultra Filterbright Technology, which is a step up in reducing ambient light glare from the environmental light – the 550 has Filterbright Technology, but not Ultra Filterbright. The 650 also has a wheel key remote. As far as audio, the 550 offers 10-watts per channel, and the 650 offers 15-watts. The 650 is also RSS ready, and will include InfoLink functionality.
Hope this helps! If you have any other questions, please let me know.

Great details, I appreciate that.
Generally the price difference is around $200 between the models. Would you say that the 650 is worth the extra cabbage?
