My sincere thanks to compudummy!

by babykittie - 10/11/07 10:52 PM In reply to: internet speed monitor fix by compudummy

Had to subscribe to this site to personally thank you for this information. These invasive pop ups were driving me crazy! Couldn't get any work done. They came on even when I wasn't on the internet.
I have no idea how "internet speed monitor" attached itself to my computer. This is the first problem I have had with my virus and spyware protection failing. Thanks again. I'm soooo glad it's gone!

by dumdumx24 - 10/27/07 10:03 AM In reply to: internet speed monitor fix by compudummy

I already uninstalled internet speed monitor in add or remove programs, however I can't get rid of the ISM folder and the BndDrive3.dll inside. How do I manually remove this folder and file?

need help uninstalling Internet speed monitor

by Shadoweprinz - 11/25/08 9:00 PM In reply to: internet speed monitor fix by compudummy

I have a similar problem with the toolbar and all but in addition to that I get a random popup every minute or so (always named "From Internet Speed Monitor"). When I virus scan my computer, it always comes up with an adware called internet speed monitor. I've deleted it like 10000000 times but it seems to reinstall itself really fast cause it's always there on the next scan and the popups don't stop.

Also, I can't find an Internet Speed Monitor folder on my computer or an ISM folder in my program files. I will appreciate any help. thanks.

Give the following a try...........

by Marianna Schmudlach Moderator - 11/25/08 10:11 PM In reply to: need help uninstalling Internet speed monitor by Shadoweprinz

Download and scan with SUPERAntiSpyware Free for Home Users

* Double-click SUPERAntiSpyware.exe and use the default settings for installation.
* An icon will be created on your desktop. Double-click that icon to launch the program.
* If asked to update the program definitions, click "Yes". If not, update the definitions before scanning by selecting "Check for Updates". (If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download and unzip them from here.)
* Under "Configuration and Preferences", click the Preferences button.
* Click the Scanning Control tab.
* Under Scanner Options make sure the following are checked (leave all others unchecked):

Close browsers before scanning.
Scan for tracking cookies.
Terminate memory threats before quarantining.

* Click the "Close" button to leave the control center screen.
* Back on the main screen, under "Scan for Harmful Software" click Scan your computer.
* On the left, make sure you check C:\Fixed Drive.
* On the right, under "Complete Scan", choose Perform Complete Scan.
* Click "Next" to start the scan. Please be patient while it scans your computer.
* After the scan is complete, a Scan Summary box will appear with potentially harmful items that were detected. Click "OK".
* Make sure everything has a checkmark next to it and click "Next".
* A notification will appear that "Quarantine and Removal is Complete". Click "OK" and then click the "Finish" button to return to the main menu.
* If asked if you want to reboot, click "Yes".

Please download Malwarebytes Anti-Malware or alternate download link

* Make sure you are connected to the Internet.
* Double-click on Download_mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
* When the installation begins, follow the prompts and do not make any changes to default settings.
* When installation has finished, make sure you leave both of these checked:
* - Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
* - Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware
* Then click Finish.
* MBAM will automatically start and you will be asked to update the program before performing a scan. If an update is found, the program will automatically update itself. Press the OK button to close that box and continue.
* If you encounter any problems while downloading the updates, manually download them from here and just double-click on mbam-rules.exe to install.

* On the Scanner tab:
* - Make sure the "Perform Quick Scan" option is selected.
* - Then click on the Scan button.
* The next screen will ask you to select the drives to scan. Leave all the drives selected and click on the Start Scan button.
* The scan will begin and "Scan in progress" will show at the top. It may take some time to complete so please be patient.
* When the scan is finished, a message box will say "The scan completed successfully. Click 'Show Results' to display all objects found".
* Click OK to close the message box and continue with the removal process.
* Back at the main Scanner screen, click on the Show Results button to see a list of any malware that was found.
* Make sure that everything is checked, and click Remove Selected.
* When removal is completed, a log report will open in Notepad and you may be prompted to restart your computer. (see Note below)
* The log is automatically saved and can be viewed by clicking the Logs tab in MBAM.

* -- Note: If MBAM encounters a file that is difficult to remove, you will be presented with 1 of 2 prompts. Click OK to either and let MBAM proceed with the disinfection process. If asked to restart the computer, please do so immediately. Failure to reboot will prevent MBAM from removing all the malware.

**If you encounter this message:"c:\program files\malwarebytes' Anti-Malware\mbamext.dll Unable to register the dll/ocx: RegSvr32 failed with exit code 0x5" Click on ignore mbamext.dll

Internet Speed Monitor

by tav1000 - 1/5/09 6:42 PM In reply to: Give the following a try........... by Marianna Schmudlach Moderator

I want to greatly thank Marianna Schmudlach

Marianna your informaiton below helped me get rid of the Internet Speed Monitor Adware Pop up Nighmare. I removed the software using add/remove programs but the pop ups still appeared.

For those of you in my situation below are Marianna's instructions. In addition to the steps below I made sure my wireless radio was OFF when scanning or else the pop ups conitnued to appear during the scan. I had to run both scans twice, then emptied the recycle bin Explorer files etc. and defragged. So far so good, did this all last night and this morning.

THANKS AGAIN MARIANNA!

I have the Internet Speed Monitor and cannot get rid of it.

by charmorin - 10/4/07 10:11 AM In reply to: reply to: Something's.... by caktus

I have it and have read your posts - cannot find a file or folder or anything that identifies itself as Internet Speed Monitor. Not sure how you all found it and deleted it so easily but I sure could use some help! I have Webroot Spy Sweeper and it found it once, but didn't remove it. I haven't got a solution from them and this thing is driving me crazy, not to mention how concerned I am about the security of our computer. I need to find a better program I guess.

Please help me find this and delete it from my computer!!!

Did you..

by Carol~ Moderator - 10/4/07 4:28 PM In reply to: I have the Internet Speed Monitor and cannot get rid of it. by charmorin

Go to Start>Control Panel>Add/Remove as suggested above?

Is it a matter of not knowing where to look, or it's not there? Did you go to My Computer. Then double-click of your main drive (C) and look in your Program Files folder? If it's not there, you might also try looking in the Common Files folder within the Program Files folder.

Did you read the above post titled Internet Speed Monitor fix above? Maybe it will help.

You might want to..

by Carol~ Moderator - 10/4/07 5:44 PM In reply to: yes by praxsdad

If you've been trying that long, you might want to give HJT a try. No doubt, posting a log will get you going without having to reinstall your system.

Read the below thread. We don't read analyze them here, but the forums which do are in within the post.

I have done all of the above...it is in hiding

by charmorin - 10/4/07 6:37 PM In reply to: Did you.. by Carol~ Moderator

I did go to the add/remove area and did not see anything that sounded remotely like Internet Speed Monitor. I also have done searches and looked where I could...nothing. If anyone has other ideas for finding it, that would help. I have Windows XP - don't know what other info. you might need to know.
