by bhines009 - 10/10/08 12:23 PMObviously the LG Dare is the best phone on the US market. It has by far the best camera and camcorder, stereo blutooth, great size, and a WAY more reliable network than IPhone.
However, why wouldn't LG make this a TV ready phone!!!!! The lower end Voyager has it. So I need some help here people. How can I access more video besides YouTube and the "TERRIBLE VCAST" video options? I want to be able to watch movies on the web and TV shows. Any ideas?
I tried Comcast's Fancast and that doesn't work. I tried to watch TV Series from NBC.com and couldn't get that to work.
Is there a patch I need to make these work or what?
Has anyone used this phone with Sling Box?
PLEASE HELP!!

by Courtjester64 - 10/28/08 7:38 PM In reply to: LG DARE - How can I watch Movies and TV shows by bhines009I have the LG Dare and agree that it is everything I personally ever wanted in a phone, browser, portable Sirius radio player, Streaming video player and GPS NAV device. Streaming any media from a home PC including LIVE tv is easy; BUT it requires that you have a home PC that is always on, connected to the internet and has an TV Tuner card such as the one I use from ATI. This is a card that let's you plug your standard Cable into your PC to watch tv on your PC. Once you have that set up you need to install Orb software (free from mycast.orb.com). You also NEED to have an unlimited data plan before doing this...trust me...
1. On the DARE navigate to mycast.orb.com
2. Assuming you have installed orb and created your account, log in to orb.
3. ***IMPORTANT***once you are logged in scroll down to the bottom of the screen and click on settings.
4. Click on the tab that says "stream"
5. Change the stream format to 3GP-AAC/RTSP
6. Select save/exit
7. Select Program Guide, make a selection and start watching live tv, recorded tv, home cameras (mine is on my pool) or Sirius satellite live via the free Usirius software installed on your PC.
Occasionally Orb will require that you log back in when you go to the site. Each time you log in you will have to reset the stream format. I always forget this and it drives me nuts. Not sure how to permanently fix that as a default yet.

I have my iTunes library setup with Winamp Remote. I changed the settings on my LG Dare browser when viewing the page. My phone wasn't updated with the new software was yours? What format are the Movies you watch, and what version of software is on your Dare? Or do you only watch your T.V.? Knowing those things will help greatly! Thanks!

I have watched tivo'd shows stored on my PC, Live TV, a Web Cam and listen to Sirius satellite using usirius literally every day while driving to work. I watched an entire Celtics game while sitting in my daughter's cheer competition. I am not making this up.
