I need help. I have a Dell xps1210 laptop that I recently upgraded the Vista Home Premium to Vista Ultimate. I also have outlook 2007 that I have been using for over a year. I now have a problem sending email. The email just sits in the outbox and stays there, although send/receive shows that it was sent. I never experienced this with home premium. My ISP is at&t-yahoo.com. I spent about 8 hours over two days checking my outlook settings, clearing and resetting my account with them etc. I can bypass outlook and send and receive fine. In outlook settings when I send the test page it works fine. when I compose an email and send it normally through outlook is when it stays in the outbox. Anyone experience this? Greg
is it "some-server" or "some-server.somewhere.com"?
I am experiencing identical problems using Vista / Outlook 2007. HP Pavillion Notebook 6000. Emails are registering in sent items but not going anywhere. Unable to send/receive email including to myself. Port 25 SMTP isn't blocked because Windows Mail works fine which also uses Port 25 SMTP. I have spent 7 hours on the phone with Microsoft Technical Support with no success. After a process of elimiantion (and I mean eliminating everything) Microsoft indicated that problem is in operating system. I have also spent 1 hour with my ISP and about 1 hour with Symantec which included removing the Internet Security Software. I have backed up and restored op system without success today but this didn't resolve anything. I know there is a solution because the same thing happened when 2 months ago and Microsoft worked it out in about 30 minutes through trial and error. It depends on if you get a "top" tech support person or an "also ran". My problem seems to occur if I am away from my ISP and log on to another ISP.
..plus any updates that may have followed? It might be worth a try.
Hope this helps.

Thanks for the tip. I installed SP1 and outlook send email is working. I noticed some sent emails were directed to Junk Mail but after checking "Not Junk" selection all is fine. Cheers
Authentication is usually the issue regarding Outlook, especially in the 2007 version. Does Outlook report any errors? What about the Event Log, any errors reported there? You should have an Office event log which will capture detailed errors regarding authentication, DNS issues, or connectivity issues. Check to see if there are multiple email profiles on the computer, and make sure the default profile is set correctly. Does "send the test page" mean you are using the "test settings" button to send and receive a test message? Is the "Send immediately" option selected?
I use Vista Ultimate and Office 2007 with the latest updates, and I have not experienced any problems, other than getting too much email (what can I say - I am loved).

Thanks for the advice. I cannot be specific as to the "fix" but sent email is now functioning. This may have been after downloading SP1.
Cheers.
