I have a Canon Elura 85, and the firewire port on it went bust. It's a great camera, and it works fine, so I don't want to get rid of it. So, I figured I'd just buy a cheap Mini DV camera to stream the video to my computer that I take on the better camera. I was looking at an ebay posting for a Sony Handycam DCR HC20. However, it says in the posting that this is not a "digital" camcorder, even though it's Mini DV. What's the difference, and will it matter if I'm just using it to stream video?
means "Digital Video" and as a miniDV camcorder it has a DV (Digital Video) port to transfer digital video from the miniDV tape. And the Sony product page
http://esupport.sony.com/US/perl/model-home.pl?mdl=DCRHC20&LOC=3
says it is a "Digital HandyCam Camcorder"...
If the eBay listing you are referring to is
http://cgi.ebay.com/Sony-Handycam-DCR-HC20_W0QQitemZ280273242789QQcmdZViewItem?hash=item280273242789&_trkparms=72%3A1205|39%3A1|66%3A2|65%3A12|240%3A1318&_trksid=p3286.c0.m14
where they say "thi camcorder is not digital", either this person has no idea what they have, has no idea what they are talking about, the DV port is busted or they do not understand the concept of digital tape or some combination...
That's what I thought, but that made me doubt myself. I assume it's in working order, since it says it's new in box.
