Emodio and P2 question

by Coolvibes2008 - 7/24/08 8:36 AM In reply to: Samsung YP-P2 Questions by 4dthinker

Hello Mr.Samsung
My question is regarding the new Samsung service Emodio for P2 mp3 players, the place where you install Uci themes:
http://www.emodio.com

1. Why do you have a separate acount for korean and english
so that people with english emodio acount cannot login to korean acount?
For korean acount you need korean passport so many people cannot register for it.
English acount: http://www.emodio.com
Korean acount : http://kr.emodio.com

This is a problem because sometimes there is very nice Uci themes
on the korean acount

Is it possible samsung can merge this 2 acounts
or make the English acount work on korean acount ?

2. IMPORTANT Bug in Emodio:
People that acess the korea acount :
http://kr.emodio.com

With a P2 with english firmware
have problem downloading Korean themes
If UCI Theme have korean filename it will not work on non-korean firmware on Yepp P2 players
but (also from korean emodio) if the filename is in english or numbers then it work

Is it possible you samsung can fix this
So Korean Uci files names will work when installing the Emodio themes
on English firmware Yepp p2 players

To test this do the following:
- Get a Yepp P2 with a US/EU Firmware 5.05 or 5.08
- Make an Korean acount at : - Login to korean emodio
- Download any Themes with a Korean filename through Emodio software
- Unplugg P2 and turn it on
- You will see Uci themes show up in preview window but when applied it roll back to Default black Samsung uci

- Now download another theme from: http://kr.emodio.com
This time download a theme with english name or Numbers in
There most be no korean filename anywhere in the tittle
transfer it with emodio software and unplugg p2 and turn it on

- You will see the new uci theme show up in preview window
when you choose it you can see the themes fine

So the problem is that Themes from http://kr.emodio.com
with korean tittles in file name dont work on EU/US firmware 5.05 P2

Can Samsung fix this?

Different Markets....

by Mr_Samsung Samsung staff - 8/25/08 11:36 PM In reply to: Emodio and P2 question by Coolvibes2008

Coolvibes2008,

I’ll be happy to answer your questions in the order they were presented!

ONE: The reason we have separate accounts for Korea and the United States is because of the Music Store functionality that is available in Korea that is not available for the United States. It comes down to purchase ability (currency exchanges) as well as Copyright restriction laws that Samsung has an obligation to follow. We do, however, have partnerships with Napster and Rhapsody, to name a few, as well as other online store downloads that are compatible on our players. You’ll find that the music is cheaper on Napster and Rhapsody, as well.

TWO: The units in Korea have different capabilities for features that are available in Korea, but not the United States. For instance, DMB broadcasts are available in Korea to play on your P2, but we don’t have that ability in the EU/US markets. As a result, we don’t have that technology built into the EU/US release of the P2. This explains why the firmware updates and GUI is not compatible.

It’s not a “bug”, nor does it require a “fix” – what it’s doing is rejecting a GUI that is not specifically made for that unit because it’s incompatible with the region.

Hope that helps.

Best,

Mr. Samsung

by kfrueh1 - 10/17/08 9:21 PM In reply to: Different Markets.... by Mr_Samsung Samsung staff

Mr Samsung,
I bought a P2 in Korea, but live in the US. I'd like to use it with Rhapsody. Is there any way I can get this to work?
Thanks

Regional differences

by Samsung_HD_Tech Samsung staff - 10/18/08 3:58 PM In reply to: Can a Korean P2 work with Rhapsody by kfrueh1

Unfortunately, at this point, a product made for the Korean Market is going to have different accessibility features, as well as regional software. Korean products have a music store associated with them, as we have Rhapsody and Napster 2.0 in the U.S.

My answer would technically be no, but that depends on the application you're using. Downloading music is different from a subscription, for instance. I don't know if there's a way you could get it to work or not, but regardless, you can import the music directly on the player from your computer using a number of ways, including Windows Media Player 11, the Samsung software (EmoDio) or exploring the attached drive and dragging the files.

As far as a subscription service, it's one of those situations that I've never personally performed.

There is more than just changing the firmware, I know that. I definitely wouldn't try to attempt a U.S. released firmware update on your Korean product.

Have you had any luck so far?

KoreanP2

Nope, no luck so far. I can download purchased tracks from Rhapsody or using other programs, but I can't use it with Rhapsody to go. Rhapsody does not license the player which shows up as a usb-drive. I talked to the Rhapsody consumer service and they said the problem might be the driver. Is there a way how I could change the driver? Other than that it works fine, but I do like the subscription service. Thanks for your advise.

Enclosed software?

by Samsung_HD_Tech Samsung staff - 10/19/08 8:17 PM In reply to: KoreanP2 by kfrueh1

Did you try installing using the enclosed software?

It's a long shot, but maybe that will give you just enough to work with. You might try downloading the Samsung Media Studio SOFTWARE (not firmware!) from the website to see if that is enough to work with as far as Rhapsody is concerned.

You can find it here:
http://www.samsung.com/us/support/download/supportDown.do?group=audiovideo&type=mp3players&subtype=flashmemory&model_nm=YP-P2JAB&language=&cate_type=all&dType=D&mType=SW&vType=L&prd_ia_cd=03040200&disp_nm=YP-P 2JAB

Normally I wouldn't recommend mixing and matching software and hardware, but this is only so your computer can detect it a certain way for that specific use. Again, I don't recommend installing firmware, as that will more than likely result in you having to get it serviced.

Almost forgot..

Your installed software would be Korean based, thus the link I provided for the SMS software.

What was I thinking? ;)

Samsung HDTV LN52A550

by Zulkepli Dollah - 7/26/08 12:25 PM In reply to: Let the Samsung Forums begin... (Thank you CNET!) by Mr_Samsung Samsung staff

Just purchased the above-referenced TV and am very satisfied with everything except for the sound system. I have done some tweaking and it is better. Want to add small speakers. Does the 550 have an internal amplifier so that all I have to do is hook up the speakers wiring to the back of the TV audio outlet? Any recommendation as to the best for the buck?
Thank you...

Need powered speakers....

by Mr_Samsung Samsung staff - 8/25/08 11:39 PM In reply to: Samsung HDTV LN52A550 by Zulkepli Dollah

stiver244,

The only internal amplifier is for the speakers themselves. I think I understand your question as being, “Can I hook up bookshelf speakers with speaker wire”, and the answer is no. Most televisions today don’t have that amplifier feature, since many people either purchase a separate home theatre system altogether or a Home Theater In a Box system.

Another option is to get a nice pair of powered speakers that can plug into the headphone jack (similar to a computer). I might suggest looking at 2 speaker systems, or if you want extra bass, a 2.1 speaker system (the .1 denotes a subwoofer). You can still run it all through that one headphone jack, and that may save you some money as well.

Let me know if I can help further!

Regards,

Mr. Samsung

That's a question for your fellow members

by Mr_Samsung Samsung staff - 9/11/08 4:57 PM In reply to: Speakers for 550 by masonaries

masonaries,

I can’t recommend a specific brand, but I’m sure some of the other users have had success with various models and various brands.

You can get a 2.1 (.1 denoting a subwoofer, of course) speaker system, because that takes the same input, and gives you a little extra bass.

Hope that points you in the right direction.

Mr. Samsung

My new HL-T7288W picture looks like a water color

by vinceau - 8/29/08 3:00 PM In reply to: Let the Samsung Forums begin... (Thank you CNET!) by Mr_Samsung Samsung staff

just bought two new Samsung DLP tvs this week. One a 50" and the other a 72". My 50 looks amazing just on standard def. My 72" has great color and brightness but the picture looks like the color especially the skin tones is a water color. I have been watching high def since it came out and this tv replaces an old Mitsubisi 65". I can't seem to adjust the sharpness on this tv. It is the same for the tv as well as the dvd that is hooked up. I have called Samsung and described this and they set me up with a local technician right away. Great service. I would just like to have an idea of what might be the problem when the tech gets there. This is the HL-T788W. I have searched the net and the only thing I can find are great reviews, which is the reason I went with this tv instead of the Mitsubisi 73". I bought a dvd that walks you through setting the contrast and such and when the test pattern for the sharpness comes up my adjustment seems to do nothing. That is why I am just assuming it may be something to do with that adjustment.

Today the Samsung repair man came out and changed the main board that all of the connectors come out of and the dlp chip and the board it goes on. None of that fixed the problem. He is going to order a new engine. Is there hope for me Mr. Samsung? Opening day of College Football and no HD in the house. Woe is me.

Ambient light causing screen glare

by 7575bill - 9/4/08 11:50 AM In reply to: Let the Samsung Forums begin... (Thank you CNET!) by Mr_Samsung Samsung staff

I'm setting up a business meeting room in a 3 season building in a resort. Three sides of the building are open, but have roll down sides for weather problems. The ambient light is very bright. I tried to use a 5,000Lum projector and premium screen but even it wouldn't present a clear picture of a spreadsheet based presentation. I'm considering a LN52A650 for this application. I'll be mounting it on a roll around stand and storing it in a weather tight area. I'm concerned about screen glare, contrast and etc.. Will it work?? Any other suggestions??
